NFL analyst outlines just how far “clown culture” Houston Texans have come with Stefon Diggs filling DeAndre Hopkins-sized hole
The Buffalo Bills made a blockbuster trade with the Houston Texans, acquiring wide receiver Stefon Diggs.
During the offseason, there were rumors that Diggs was being sought after by other teams. On Wednesday, the Bills solidified these rumors by officially trading Diggs and also including 2025 fifth and sixth-round picks, in return for a 2025 second-round pick from the Texans. This trade sent shockwaves throughout the entire NFL.
On First Take, the panel analyzed the impact of the trade, with former NFL offensive lineman Damien Woody noting that the addition of Diggs to the team puts the Texans in possession of a wide receiver on par with DeAndre Hopkins.
“It adds more to what already was a potent Houston Texans team,”Woody said. “I mean, you think about where the Houston Texans were two years ago. The Houston Texans were a laughingstock in the National Football League just from the top down clown culture there.
“Then you bring in Demeco Ryans. Obviously, you draft C.J. Stroud and the year they had last year where they go ten and seven.”
In addition, Houston secured the services of Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon through a trade and extended contracts to wide receiver Noah Brown and tight end Dalton Schultz. Furthermore, they successfully signed highly sought-after defensive end Danielle Hunter through free agency.
Last season, the Texans were able to secure the AFC South title (10-7) despite having a rookie quarterback and a first-year head coach. The Jacksonville Jaguars and Indianapolis Colts followed closely behind, both finishing with 9-8 records.
Can the Houston Texans clinch the AFC South division title?
After the Stefon Diggs transaction, DraftKings Sportsbook revised their predictions for divisional winners in the 2024–2025 NFL season. The Texans are currently the top pick to win the AFC South once again, with odds of +115, followed by the Jaguars at +240.
Under the guidance of first-year head coach DeMeco Ryan, the Texans thrived last season and have bolstered their offense with two additional weapons for the reigning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.
