NewJeans Mothers Claim HYBE Security Guard Confessed to Deleting Video of Hanni’s Greeting Incident
The situation surrounding Hanni, a member of NewJeans, and her allegations of poor treatment by the management company HYBE has escalated significantly. Mothers of the group’s members are reportedly stating that a security personnel from HYBE confessed to removing video evidence linked to Hanni’s incident. The singer had previously claimed that a manager from a different group instructed them to disregard her within the HYBE premises.
On October 10, 2024, Ilgan Sports, a South Korean media outlet, disclosed that the mothers of NewJeans expressed renewed worries concerning the misleading information coming from Belift Lab. This follows prior allegations that vital CCTV recordings of Hanni’s greetings to a group—identified as ILLIT—were deleted, raising alarm about a potential cover-up.
Originally, the mothers had sought a review of the CCTV footage, only to discover later that it had been eradicated. In a recent discussion, they claimed their request for an amended statement from Belift Lab, which manages ILLIT, was rebuffed, compelling them to publicly voice their concerns once more.
Statements from the mothers of NewJeans members
This controversy originated from an alleged comment by an ILLIT manager, who supposedly instructed their artists to “ignore”both Hanni and the members of NewJeans. While Belift Lab issued a denial of these claims on October 7, 2024, the mothers of the NewJeans members maintained that the label’s version of events was incorrect.
The mothers pointed out that, although CCTV footage exists, the segment where the alleged “ignore”comment was made had been removed, which raises questions about whether HYBE and Belift Lab intentionally deleted records to conceal the truth.
Belift Lab has adamantly rejected these accusations, asserting that a comprehensive inquiry was performed, which validated that no such comments were issued. However, the mothers of NewJeans members remain skeptical, citing discrepancies in the agency’s responses.
One mother voiced her perplexity regarding the company’s recent claim that ADOR’s leadership reviewed the footage, given that initially, only Hanni and her manager were privy to it. She questioned the shift in the narrative surrounding the footage, further nurturing their doubts about a possible cover-up.
Another mother revealed that the involved HYBE security guard acknowledged the deletion of the encounter footage, claiming it was insignificant and didn’t warrant preservation. She criticized HYBE for attempting to separate itself from the decision, framing it as an action taken by an external security firm when, in fact, it was made within the organization.
The mothers later emphasized that this matter extends beyond a simple greeting incident; they believe it pertains to a larger pattern of unfair treatment directed at the girl group.
