While this marks Xbox’s inaugural game announcement of the year, it is not the first significant update concerning the subscription service for 2025. Many of these updates have been implemented just in time for the debut of the latest games.
On January 7, 2025, Microsoft released a blog post detailing seven new titles coming to Xbox Game Pass. Leading the lineup is Road 96, a choice-driven narrative experience from 2021, now available across all Game Pass tiers, including PC Game Pass. Although this title previously exited the service in June 2023, it makes a triumphant return this month alongside a selection of other exciting games.

Previously circulated leaks accurately predicted the addition of both Diablo and UFC 5 to Xbox Game Pass, and players now have the confirmed dates for their availability. However, it’s essential to note that access to these titles varies by subscription type: Diablo will be exclusive to Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass users, while UFC 5 is available solely to Game Pass Ultimate members. The rest of the newly added games will be accessible to all standard subscribers, including the much-anticipated sci-fi adventure, Lightyear Frontier, still in early access.
As of January 7, new perks for Game Pass Ultimate members include a weapon charm for Apex Legends and downloadable content packs for games like First Descendant, Vigor, and Metaball. While these new games generate excitement, it is also crucial to remember that some titles will be leaving the platform. The following six games will depart Xbox Game Pass on January 15:
