
New Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 27774 Now Available
Attention Windows Insiders participating in the Canary Channel! A new build, 27774, is now ready for download. This update introduces a variety of fixes and minor enhancements, alongside an exciting new method to activate the recently unveiled Administrator Protection feature.
Additionally, Microsoft has made ISO images available for those wishing to perform clean installations. You can download them here.

- This build includes a series of minor improvements and fixes aimed at enhancing the overall experience for Insiders.
[Windows Setup]
- During Windows installation via media, users will now encounter a confirmation dialog when formatting or deleting partitions.
[Administrator Protection]
Users can now enable Administrator Protection directly from the Windows Security settings in the Account Protection tab, eliminating the need for IT administrator assistance. Windows home users gain the ability to enable this feature through the same settings. Note that changing this setting requires a reboot of the system.
With Administrator Protection enabled, prompts for user authorization when elevating untrusted or unsigned applications will display expanded color-coded regions, enhancing visibility over the application description.
Bug Fixes Implemented
Here’s a summary of the issues that have been resolved:

- Resolved an issue that prevented accent-colored window borders and shadows from displaying correctly, along with solving problems related to animations despite settings being turned off in the latest Canary builds.
[Other]
- Fixed an issue that occasionally caused the Xbox app to fail to launch, displaying a “Please try again” error in the last two Canary builds.
Known Issues to Watch For
As with any update, there are a few known issues to be aware of:
[General]
- [IMPORTANT NOTE FOR COPILOT+ PCs] Users transitioning from the Dev Channel or Retail to the Canary Channel on a new Copilot+ PC may experience the loss of Windows Hello PIN and biometrics, encountering error 0xd0000225 with the message “Something went wrong, and your PIN isn’t available.” You can recreate your PIN by selecting “Set up my PIN” .
- The team is actively working to resolve an issue where running SFC /scannow consistently reports errors.
[File Explorer]
- Minimizing a File Explorer window may lead to rendering issues when restoring it in this build.
[Remote Desktop]
- [NEW] Users may encounter an error (0x80080005) when attempting to use MTSC.exe for Remote Desktop. Launching the program as an administrator serves as a workaround.
