As excitement builds, Paramount has released an engaging new video that offers viewers a glimpse into the complex history of Section 31, the morally ambiguous Black Ops unit of Starfleet.

Initially announced in April 2023, the film stars the acclaimed Michelle Yeoh reprising her role as Philippa Georgiou from Star Trek: Discovery. The project evolved from a previously planned series following Yeoh’s departure from the show. Production commenced in January 2023, and fans received an official release date at New York Comic-Con in October: January 24, 2025. In this film, Georgiou and her team take on perilous missions designed to protect the United Federation of Planets, all while confronting their previous choices and mistakes.

The recently unveiled video serves as an informative introduction to Section 31, outlining its vital operations and the significant missions the group has undertaken to safeguard the Federation from threats, both external and internal.

Featuring a compilation of clips showcasing Section 31’s past appearances across the Star Trek franchise, the video spans from Lieutenant Malcolm Reed aboard the Enterprise-NX01 to characters such as Ash Tyler, Georgiou, and Leland on the U.S.S. Discovery, and even Sloan’s operatives on Deep Space Nine. Adding to the intrigue, Paramount+ recently shared brief character profiles of the Section 31 team, revealing a diverse crew comprising a human Mech, a Deltan, a Chameloid, and either a Romulan or Vulcan. Observations suggest a Romulan affiliation based on the profiles.
