Poncle Unveils Vampire Crawlers: A New Spin on Dungeon-Crawling
Poncle, the innovative studio renowned for launching the “reverse bullet hell”genre with their hit game Vampire Survivors, has set its sights on transforming a different gaming experience. During the recent Xbox Partner Preview event, they announced Vampire Crawlers, an exciting spin-off set in the same universe, which introduces a fresh blend of dungeon-crawling and roguelike deckbuilding mechanics.
Gameplay Overview
Players will assume the role of a Crawler, featuring familiar characters from Vampire Survivors. This new title invites gamers to delve into dungeons, crafting and enhancing their decks to unleash powerful attacks and abilities. True to Poncle’s style, expect a dynamic and chaotic gameplay experience that keeps players on their toes.
Developer Insights
According to Luca, Poncle’s founder and CEO, the gameplay emphasizes versatility: “It’s about mowing down hordes of enemies using cards while you explore dungeons, playing as slowly or as fast as you prefer. You can take your time and be tactical or play cards as fast as you can, thanks to the game’s design that ensures logical outcomes amidst the visual chaos of your actions.”
Looking Towards the Future
Furthermore, Luca expressed his ambition to introduce “accessibility, immediacy, affordability, replayability, and sparkly stuff”across various genres, hinting that further spin-offs are in consideration. Although he confirmed that a sequel to Vampire Survivors is in development, he chose to keep details under wraps for now.
Production Details and Release Plans
Unlike the original game, which was released as Early Access, Vampire Crawlers will launch as a complete title, with plans for future updates following its release. Development has been underway for nearly four years, showcasing the studio’s commitment to this exciting project.
Available Platforms
Vampire Crawlers is slated for release on multiple platforms, including PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch, with an anticipated launch in 2026. Additionally, it will be available on launch day for subscribers of Xbox Game Pass Premium and Ultimate.
