The much-anticipated Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- has unveiled a new trailer, further igniting excitement among fans. Known as “G-Quacks,”this newest installment introduces a fresh narrative set in an outer space colony, stirring the imagination with possibilities reminiscent of the iconic Mobile Suit Gundam (Gundam 0079) storyline.

While space colonies have appeared in other Gundam series outside the Universal Century (UC), they are comparatively rare in those narratives. Some enthusiasts speculate that elements of GQuuuuuuX may draw inspiration from Gundam 0079.

The latest trailer showcases captivating scenes from the movie and features the theme song “Plazma,”performed by the talented Kenshi Yonezu:

The prologue of GQuuuuuuX features the initial four episodes of the corresponding television series, which has yet to announce a launch date in Japan.

North American Release Details

Amate from Gundam X Khara Project
Gundam Hot Mecha
Nyan from Gundam X Khara Project

North American Gundam enthusiasts are set to enjoy the film starting February 28, 2025, thanks to GKIDS acquiring the distribution rights in the region.

With Toho handling distribution in Japan, GKIDS’ recent acquisition by Toho likely strengthened their bargaining position. Additionally, the licensing of the prologue to GKIDS may indicate significant plans for the franchise moving forward.

The storyline follows the journey of Amate Yuzuriha as she engages in the illicit Clan Battles involving mobile suits after forming a bond with the war refugee, Nyaan. Taking on the identity of “Machu,”Amate pilots the GQuuuuuuX but soon discovers that the stakes are higher than either of them anticipated.

Produced in collaboration with Studio Khara (notable for the Rebuild of Evangelion series), GQuuuuuuX is directed by Kazuya Tsurumaki, who co-directed The End of Evangelion. The scripting is led by renowned creators Hideaki Anno (Evangelion) and Yoji Enokido (known for his work on Revolutionary Girl Utena, Sailor Moon SuperS, and Ouran Host Club).
