New Teams Preview Feature Allows Chat, Copilot, and Notes Panes to Be Popped Out

Microsoft Teams Introduces New Pop-Out Feature for Enhanced Productivity

Microsoft recently unveiled an exciting enhancement for users in the Teams Public Preview and Microsoft 365 Targeted release channels. Members can now pop out their Chat, Copilot, and Notes panes during meetings, a move aimed at fostering a more adaptable and productive meeting environment. This new feature is currently in the preview stage, with Microsoft actively seeking user feedback to refine the functionality further.

Requirements for Accessing the Feature

To take advantage of this functionality, users must meet a couple of criteria. Firstly, they should be part of either the Teams Public Preview or Microsoft 365 Targeted release groups. Secondly, the updated Teams application must be installed on a Windows or Mac device. However, if you are operating within an organization, your IT administrator must enable the “Show Preview features”option in the update policy for you to access this feature.

How to Utilize the Pop-Out Feature

Eligible users can easily utilize this feature by locating the pop-out icon at the top of the Chat, Copilot, or Notes side panes. The icon resembles two overlapping squares with an arrow adjacent to the close button of the pane. It’s important to note that access to the Copilot side pane requires a Microsoft 365 Copilot license.

Enhancing Your Meeting Experience

Once activated, the popped-out panes will open in separate windows, allowing users to reposition and resize them as needed. This capability facilitates a more organized workflow, enabling participants to simultaneously monitor video calls and chat discussions, thereby improving overall engagement and efficiency during meetings.

Share Your Feedback

As part of the preview, Microsoft is eager to gather insights from users. To contribute your feedback, navigate to Settings and More > Feedback located at the top right corner of the Teams application. You can choose to report a problem, express a compliment, or suggest a feature to help enhance the service.

Stay informed about updates and enhancements to Microsoft Teams as they continue to evolve and adapt to user needs.
