Microsoft’s Upcoming Surface Event: What to Expect
The first month of 2025 is almost over, and anticipation is building as Microsoft gears up for significant announcements this year. One highlight is a dedicated Surface event scheduled for January 30, where the tech giant will showcase its latest offerings tailored for business users. Additionally, exciting news for general consumers may arrive as early as Spring 2025, following reports detailing new Surface devices on the horizon.
Preview of New Surface Devices
According to a recent report from Windows Central, Microsoft is set to introduce two compact computing options featuring ARM processors. One will expand the Surface Pro lineup, while the other caters to those who favor traditional laptop designs.
Premium Quality in Compact Sizes
Sources within Microsoft reveal that these new devices, despite being smaller, will not sacrifice quality or performance. The upcoming 11-inch Surface Pro is designed to contend directly with Apple’s 11-inch iPad Pro, promising a premium user experience with high display refresh rates, stylus support, and an array of accessories.
Introducing the Smaller Surface Laptop
Alongside the updated Surface Pro, Microsoft will debut a new version of the Surface Laptop, intended to supersede the Surface Laptop Go. Unlike its predecessor, this model is expected to feature a backlit keyboard, an enhanced high-resolution touchscreen display, and a sturdy all-metal casing—improvements that address some of the criticisms levied at the current Surface Laptop Go.

Performance and Pricing Insights
On the hardware front, Microsoft is expected to equip these devices with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X processors, specifically the entry-level Snapdragon X Plus and the newly launched Snapdragon X. This strategic choice is likely to position the new offerings around the $800 mark, making them competitive within the market. If a larger device meets your needs, the existing Surface Pro 11 equipped with Snapdragon X processors is still available at a reduced price. However, for those leaning towards the compact variants, patience is key as the official launch is anticipated in April or May.
