New Report Alleges Sexual Assault by Neil Gaiman

New Report Alleges Sexual Assault by Neil Gaiman

In 2024, author Neil Gaiman faced serious allegations of sexual assault made by five women. Recently, a new report has emerged, with additional women stepping forward to share their experiences regarding Gaiman’s alleged misconduct.

**Mentions of alleged sexual assault lie ahead**

In a revealing article by Vulture, Scarlett Pavlovich recounts meeting Gaiman’s former partner, Amanda Palmer, in New Zealand, forming what she describes as a friendship. Pavlovich frequently assisted Palmer, taking care of her son and running errands for the musician.

While babysitting for the weekend, Pavlovich was invited to Gaiman’s home, where an incident occurred while his son was away at a play date. She alleges that Gaiman suggested she enjoy a bath in an outdoor tub while he made a phone call.

According to Pavlovich, while she was relaxing, Gaiman reportedly entered the tub without her consent and began making advances despite her clear refusals. “I said ‘no.’ I said, ‘I’m not confident with my body,’” she recounted. Gaiman allegedly pressed her to stay calm and said, “It’s okay — it’s only me. Just relax. Just have a chat.” As she remained frozen in her discomfort, he remarked, “Don’t ruin the moment.” Eventually, Pavlovich claims she complied, leading to Gaiman allegedly stroking her feet.

At one point, Gaiman allegedly urged Pavlovich to sit in his lap. She disclosed to him that she identifies as gay, has never had sex, and has previously been assaulted. “The next part is really amorphous,” she described when recalling the ensuing events.

“But I can tell you that he put his fingers straight into my ass and tried to put his penis in my ass. And I said, ‘No, no.’ Then he tried to rub his penis between my breasts, and I said ‘no’ as well. Then he asked if he could come on my face, and I said ‘no,’ but he did anyway. ‘Call me ‘master,’ and I’ll come,’ he said.” Pavlovich recalled, needing to comply with degrading demands.

Pavlovich also shared a chilling moment when Gaiman mentioned that his ex, Palmer, had told him he could not have Pavlovich, wishing it were the “good old days” when he could have them both. This sentiment about being commanded to call Gaiman “master” is echoed in the accounts of another woman, using the pseudonym Brenda, who claims Gaiman made a similar request during an encounter at the World Horror Convention in Chicago.

“He wanted me to call him ‘master’ immediately,” Brenda said, adding that Gaiman’s demeanor shifted abruptly, describing it as if he entered a ritual disconnected from her experience.

Reflecting on their time together, Pavlovich stated that Gaiman had sex with her without her consent, with his son present. She alleges that this pattern recurred whenever she stayed at Gaiman’s home to assist with childcare duties.

According to Pavlovich, Palmer became aware of the situation after she confided in her during dinner, which reportedly influenced the couple’s eventual divorce. Initially, she claimed Palmer was understanding and accommodating, and she later received messages from Gaiman while he and Palmer were attending counseling.

Ultimately, Gaiman agreed to provide financial assistance to Pavlovich, contingent on her signing a non-disclosure agreement, resulting in payments totaling $9,200.

A Series of Women Claim Similarly Harrowing Stories About Gaiman

Numerous women have come forward alleging that Gaiman frequently coerced them into sexual acts, with accusations spanning decades. Vulture’s investigation includes accounts from four women who previously accused Gaiman, alongside four new allegations that paint a troubling picture of his behavior.

Most of these allegations involve younger women who found themselves under Gaiman’s controlling influence. Vulture reported that two of the women were employed by him, five were fans, and the youngest allegation involves an 18-year-old. The report details how Gaiman allegedly exploited his position as a prominent and admired author to manipulate and assault these women.

Katherine Kendall shared her experience of what began as a flirtatious relationship with Gaiman. She initially believed it was not leading to anything sexual until, she claims, he suddenly laid on top of her, instructing her, “Kiss me like you mean it.” In recounting the encounter, Kendall felt pressured, with Gaiman reportedly stating, “I’m a very wealthy man and I’m used to getting what I want.”

Subsequently, Gaiman allegedly paid Kendall $60,000 for therapy, which he described as compensation for causing her harm.

Neil Gaiman Allegedly Used His Power on Fans

Kendra Stout’s narrative illustrates a disturbing power dynamic. As a dedicated fan, Stout met Gaiman in Florida, where he allegedly took her on a date to his hotel room, disregarding her discomfort. She described how he ignored her pleas during their encounter, stating Gaiman did not believe in foreplay and that his sexual approach was causing her pain.

“He talked at length about the dominant and submissive relationship he envisioned,” Stout recounted for Vulture, alleging that at no point did Gaiman seek her consent. She emphasized that there were no safety measures, limits were not discussed, and when she expressed discomfort, he allegedly replied, “It’s the only way I can get off.” Stout further claimed he assaulted her with a belt without asking for consent.

Stout filed a police report in October 2024, alleging Gaiman raped her after she informed him she was unable to have penetrative sex due to a UTI. She shared that when she said no, he persisted, causing her to feel completely overwhelmed and shut down emotionally.

“It was a big hard ‘no,’” she explained, asserting her boundaries. “I told him, ‘You cannot put anything in my vagina or I will die.’” Despite the warning, Gaiman disregarded her pleas.

A Deeper Look into the Previous Allegations Against Gaiman

The Vulture article uncovers additional claims previously discussed in the Tortoise Media podcast about Gaiman. One such allegation comes from Caroline Wallner, who worked on Gaiman’s estate in Woodstock. She described an incident where Gaiman allegedly placed his hands in her underwear to touch her without her consent.

Wallner recounted the blurry lines in their relationship during Gaiman’s reportedly closed relationship with Palmer. She expressed her discomfort to him, which he allegedly dismissed. In another situation, while babysitting, she woke up to find Gaiman in bed with her and his son, where he forcibly made her touch him inappropriately.

“He didn’t have boundaries,” Wallner told the outlet. “I remember thinking that there was something really wrong with him.”

Neil Gaiman Refutes the Allegations

Gaiman maintains that all interactions were consensual. His representatives stated that while BDSM practices such as bondage, domination, sadism, and masochism may not be suitable for everyone, they are lawful when engaged in by consenting adults.

The Vulture report also references instances in Gaiman’s relationship with Palmer, particularly where she reportedly introduced fans to him. One fan, Rachel, described a situation where she felt uncomfortable and pushed beyond her limits, even though she did not allege any wrongdoing on Gaiman’s part directly.

Recently, the women who accused Gaiman of sexual misconduct gathered together, finding solace in each other’s experiences. “It’s been like meeting survivors of the same cult,” Stout expressed. “It’s impossible to understand unless you were there.”
