This update, a product of collaboration between Remedy Entertainment and Nvidia, brings substantial enhancements designed to optimize performance for the new RTX 50 Series graphics cards, released in January 2025.
Since its arrival in October 2023, Alan Wake 2 has impressed gamers with its cutting-edge graphics technology, offering a blend of photorealistic visuals, intricate animations, and expertly rendered lighting effects. The game has been recognized as a benchmark for current-generation graphics, featuring advanced technologies such as ray reconstruction, DLSS upscaling and frame generation, along with both ray tracing and path tracing techniques.
The January 30, 2025 update for the PC version of Alan Wake 2 coincided with the anticipated release of Nvidia’s RTX 50 Series cards. This critical update introduces DLSS 4 with Multi-Frame Generation, which has been confirmed as one of 75 games supporting this state-of-the-art Nvidia feature. According to Remedy Entertainment, enabling DLSS 4 will significantly enhance graphical settings, allowing gamers to experience Alan Wake 2 at a staggering over 230 fps at 4K resolution using the RTX 50 Series graphics cards.
Importantly, the benefits of this update are not limited to those who upgrade to the RTX 50 Series. Players with earlier Nvidia RTX models will also receive substantial upgrades, including an enhanced DLSS AI Model that encompasses features like DLSS Super Resolution, DLSS Ray Reconstruction, and DLAA anti-aliasing. Furthermore, Alan Wake 2 becomes the first title to integrate Nvidia’s RTX Mega Geometry technology across all RTX GPU users, improving performance in ray-traced environments by significantly enhancing the geometry processing capabilities.
