Titled Soukai no Namida-hen (“Tears of the Blue Sea Arc”), the film is eagerly anticipated, although viewers will have to wait until February 2026 for its theatrical release.
A captivating key visual was released alongside the announcement, showcasing the protagonist, Rimuru Tempest, navigating an underwater scene with a serious expression. Embracing his new identity, Rimuru embarks on thrilling escapades, forming friendships with various creatures and building the nation of Tempest, all while advocating for harmony among diverse races.
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime gained traction during the early days of the isekai phenomenon, a time when narratives of characters being reborn in other worlds were particularly appealing. The light novel series debuted in print in 2014, followed by a manga adaptation in 2015. It made its anime debut in 2018, garnering such popularity that a spin-off titled The Slime Diaries: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime was launched in 2021. The franchise expanded further with the movie That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Scarlet Bond, released in 2022.
