The Pokemon Company has officially revealed a new line of merchandise set to debut at the Pokemon Center Japan, featuring an impressive life-sized Gardevoir plush. Such large plush figures are not entirely new to the Pokemon universe; enthusiasts previously went into a frenzy over the giant Snorlax plush, a product that fans justified due to its cozy and inviting design, perfect for ensuring peaceful slumbers atop the beloved creature.
Since its inception in the 1990s, the Pokemon franchise has been on a remarkable expansion trajectory. This includes enduring video game titles from Nintendo, the anime series currently airing as Pokemon Horizons: The Series, and the exceptionally successful Pokemon Trading Card Game. In addition to these core elements, the franchise has ventured into an array of merchandise options, such as collectible figures and replicas. Earlier in December 2024, new additions to the Funko Pop line were also introduced, featuring characters like Fuecoco, Zorua, and Gengar (Ectoplasma). However, these toys, standing at around 4 inches tall, pale in comparison to the substantial Gardevoir release.

Most products within this exciting new line will officially launch on February 8, 2025, but eager fans can snag the Gardevoir plush slightly earlier, on February 6, 2025, at a price point of around $319 (49, 500 yen) through the Pokemon Center’s official website.

Upon the announcement, fans took to social media with mixed reactions. While many expressed enthusiasm about the realistic design of the plush, one fan humorously dubbed the Gardevoir plush as a potential “sleep paralysis demon”upon bringing it home. Enthusiasts are eager to acquire this plush, despite concerns over the price. Historically, the Pokemon fan community has embraced Gardevoir’s humanoid qualities, and this plush aims to highlight that aspect, as Gardevoir is meant to stand at approximately 5 ft 3 in (160 cm) in height, which mirrors that of a small person.

The expansion of Pokemon merchandise has been notable over the past year. Another significant collaboration emerged between Pokemon and Build-a-Bear, which launched the Riolu plush in November. This addition enriched an already diverse array of plush characters, including favorites like Charmander, Mimikyu, Eevee, and Squirtle. Additionally, during the holiday season, Pokemon-themed Squishmallows gained immense popularity, showing that Pokemon fans, regardless of their age, cherish plush representations of their beloved creatures.
