Introducing Gemini’s Enhancements to Google Forms

Google has recently enhanced its generative AI chatbot, Gemini, with exciting new capabilities within Google Forms. This innovative feature is designed to assist users by suggesting suitable question types, crafting question text, and proposing answer options during the form creation process.

Effortless Question Generation

For those utilizing Google Forms, a new “Suggest questions”button has been introduced. This button conveniently appears at the bottom of any form that includes two or more questions. By clicking on it, users can generate up to four relevant questions aligned with the content of their existing form.

How to Utilize Suggested Questions

Once suggestions are generated, individuals can easily select their desired questions by checking a box located in the top-right corner of each suggestion. This functionality allows for a seamless integration of new ideas, significantly enhancing the user experience. According to a blog post from Google, Gemini analyzes the existing data within the form to provide context-appropriate question suggestions.

Addressing User Challenges

Google acknowledges that form creation can sometimes pose challenges, particularly when it comes to deciding which questions to include. With Gemini’s new feature, users can effortlessly receive question suggestions, thereby eliminating the need to formulate prompts manually.“When creating a form, we know it can often be challenging to decide what question(s) to add next, ”Google stated.

Current Limitations of the Feature

Despite the promising enhancements, it’s important to note some limitations of the Suggest Questions feature. Currently, it does not support generating questions in multi-section forms, nor can it accommodate quiz-specific settings when creating questions for quizzes.

Availability and Accessibility

The rollout of this feature has begun across various Google Workspace tiers, including Business Standard/Plus, Enterprise Standard/Plus, Google AI Pro, Ultra, and for users who have purchased Gemini add-ons. It is expected to reach all eligible users within a few weeks.

To fully utilize this AI feature, users must enable smart features and personalization options. While Google Forms supports multiple languages, it’s noteworthy that many of the AI functionalities are currently limited to English.

Continuing Innovations in Google Applications

Google Forms is not the only application benefiting from Gemini’s capabilities; the AI chatbot can also assist in creating new forms and generating summaries of form responses, providing a holistic productivity boost. Moreover, Google has recently launched a dedicated web portal to showcase additional Gemini features and has introduced a competitive AI enhancement that surpasses offerings from Microsoft Excel.
