This week, Microsoft has launched an exciting new Windows 11 Release Preview build 26100.3624 for insiders, particularly benefiting users with Copilot+ PCs. This build introduces enhanced AI functionalities, prominently featuring an advanced Windows Search as well as an improved photo search capability. Currently, these cutting-edge features are exclusive to Snapdragon-powered devices, but Microsoft assures users that support for eligible AMD and Intel systems is on the way.

What’s New in Windows 11 Build 26100.3624?

[Enhanced Windows Search Features]

  • Streamlined Document and Setting Searches: Locating your documents, photos, and settings on Copilot+ PCs is now more intuitive with the upgraded Windows Search. This improvement utilizes semantic indexing alongside conventional lexical indexing, making it easier than ever. Users simply need to input their search queries in File Explorer, the taskbar search, or the Settings app. For instance, typing “change my theme”will effectively retrieve the relevant setting. Notably, this functionality leverages the substantial processing capability of the 40+ TOPS NPU integrated into Copilot+ PCs, facilitating offline searches as well. This feature is currently available for Snapdragon-powered devices, with support for AMD and Intel systems expected soon.
  • Enhanced Cloud Photo Retrieval: Finding photos stored in the cloud has become significantly simpler. Users can now enter descriptive terms like “summer picnics”in the search box of File Explorer. This update will display not only locally stored photos but also those found in the cloud. Additionally, searches for text matches within cloud files will now appear in the results, enriching the user experience. This functionality is accessible through OneDrive when logged in with a Microsoft account and requires an internet connection. More insights can be found under semantic search on Copilot+ PCs. As with other features, support for AMD and Intel-powered systems is anticipated shortly.
