Microsoft Rolls Out New Windows 11 Preview Builds
This week, Microsoft is concluding with two significant updates for Windows 11. One build is designated for the Dev Channel (26200.5733), while the other is in the Beta Channel (26120.5733).Both versions come with an identical changelog, introducing exciting new features for File Explorer and addressing several critical issues, including Start menu crashes.
Changelog Highlights
File Explorer Enhancements
- Users signed in with a work or school account (via Entra ID) will notice the introduction of people icons under the “Activity” column in File Explorer Home. Additionally, icons will appear in the “Recommended” section at the top. Hovering over or clicking these icons reveals the Live Persona Card for each contact from Microsoft 365.

Settings Updates
- The “Manage or clear your Bing search history” option has been removed from Settings > Privacy & Security > Search. Users can now manage their Bing search history through the Privacy dashboard, accessible via the related settings link on the same page.
Start Menu Improvements
- A fix has been implemented for issues that caused the Start menu to crash, enhancing stability for users in recent builds.
Taskbar and System Tray Fixes
- Resolved a problem where clicking and dragging the mouse on the taskbar preview thumbnail would render it unresponsive.
Lock Screen Corrections
- Addressed a crash that prevented widgets from displaying on the lock screen and restricted users from adding new widgets in previous builds.
Input Functionality Enhancements
- Fixed issues regarding multi-finger touchpad gestures that were not functioning correctly in earlier updates.
Known Issues
General Concerns
- Some Windows Insiders may encounter a rollback error (0x80070005) during installation. Microsoft is actively addressing this, and impacted users may try accessing Settings > System > Recovery > “Fix issues using Windows update” for potential resolution.
- We are currently working to rectify an underlying issue linked to
dao360.dll
, which has led to app crashes post-update.
Start Menu Anomalies
- Insiders utilizing the new Start menu may temporarily see a category for each alphabet letter filled with blank icons in the “All” section. Changing views should resolve this glitch.
File Explorer Display Issues
- In dark mode, the red indication for low disk space may appear too light, and other colors may not display as intended, such as black being used for remaining space instead of a more prominent color.
Click to Do (Preview) Update
- Insiders with AMD or Intel® Copilot+ PCs might experience delays during the initial attempt of intelligent text actions after updates. This will be addressed in future updates.
Live Captions
- Live captions may crash when attempting to utilize live translation on a Copilot+ PC.
Xbox Controller Issues
- Some users have reported that their Xbox Controller, when used via Bluetooth, is causing systems to bugcheck. To resolve this, open Device Manager, view devices by driver, locate the driver named ”
oemXXX.inf (XboxGameControllerDriver.inf)
” and uninstall it.
