Microsoft has launched a new week with several exciting builds for Windows Insiders. While Canary users eagerly await the release of a new build, expected this week, those in the Dev Channel can explore version 26120.1912 (KB5043168). This update introduces support for 6GHz Wi-Fi tethering on compatible devices along with various other enhancements.
Below is the official changelog:
[General]
This update encompasses a range of minor improvements and fixes designed to enhance the overall experience for Insiders utilizing this build on their PCs.
[Mobile Hotspot]
The Windows Mobile Hotspot feature has been upgraded to support 6 GHz connections. To utilize this new band, devices must have the appropriate chipset and updated drivers; note that not all chips supporting 6 GHz Wi-Fi will be compatible with the 6 GHz mobile hotspot feature. This change can be checked under Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile Hotspot when you modify the hotspot properties. For compatibility with pre-existing devices, the mobile hotspot will only utilize 6 GHz when explicitly activated.
6 GHz support visible under mobile hotspot properties in Settings for PCs equipped with the correct hardware and drivers.
