Enhanced PDF Translation Features in Microsoft Edge
Microsoft Edge continues to evolve, specifically enhancing its built-in PDF translation capabilities. Previously, users could translate selected text by right-clicking and choosing the “Translate selection”option or through the toolbar. This functionality has now received a significant upgrade.
New Document Translation Capabilities
At the recent Build 2025 conference, Microsoft announced that users will soon be able to translate entire PDF documents effortlessly. This feature is designed for simplicity, allowing users to open a PDF in Edge, click the translation icon in the address bar, and rapidly generate a fully translated document in their preferred language. This functionality supports translation in over 70 languages, making it a versatile tool for international communication.
Currently, this feature is undergoing testing in the Canary channel, with expectations for a public rollout next month, pending the absence of critical bugs during the ongoing beta testing phase.
Document Summarization with Edge for Business
Alongside these advancements in translation, Microsoft Edge is set to introduce a document summarization feature aimed at business users. Utilizing **Copilot Chat** within Edge for Business, users will soon be able to summarize content from Microsoft 365 applications, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. This tool aims to streamline workflows, allowing users to gain insights from lengthy documents quickly.
Automation with Microsoft 365 Copilot Agents
Furthermore, Microsoft 365 Copilot is enhancing Edge for Business by integrating task automation through Agents. For instance, the “Sales Assistant Agent”will automate routine tasks, like generating leads and tracking customer interactions. This feature will be accessible through Copilot Chat in the Edge for Business sidebar, enabling users to utilize these tools without disrupting their workflow.
Both the Copilot Agents and the document summarization feature are expected to enhance productivity, with Copilot Agents being available by early June and summarization currently in preview. These innovative updates underscore Microsoft’s commitment to providing powerful tools for users, especially in professional settings.
