New Dune: Awakening Free Story Chapter and Paid DLC ‘The Lost Harvest’ Releasing Next Month, Free Trial Available Now

Exciting Update for Dune: Awakening – Chapter 2 and The Lost Harvest DLC

Funcom has officially revealed that the first free story chapter for their multiplayer survival game, Dune: Awakening, is set to launch on September 10, 2025. This update will be accompanied by a new paid DLC titled The Lost Harvest, which introduces an independent narrative, distinct from the free story chapter. For players keen to immerse themselves in the Dune universe, a free trial is currently available until August 24, 2025.

New Features and Enhancements in Chapter 2

This forthcoming update will automatically be accessible to all existing players of Dune: Awakening. In addition to a wealth of new storylines, Chapter 2 will introduce several popular features requested by the community. These enhancements include:

  • Re-customization options for player characters
  • New hairstyles and tattoos
  • Additional contracts for gameplay variety
  • More dynamic encounters
  • New armor archetypes

What to Expect from The Lost Harvest

The Lost Harvest DLC will be available as a standalone purchase for $12.99 USD. However, players who have previously purchased the Season Pass will automatically receive this expansion as part of their package. In addition to the features included in the free update, purchasers of The Lost Harvest will gain access to a variety of new content:

  • A new vehicle, the Treadwheel, for exploring the deserts of Arrakis
  • Three new Imperial Testing Stations to raid
  • Five new decorations for base customization
  • Four new weapon skins and two armor skins
  • Dune Man-themed building materials for base development
  • A thumper emote to enhance player expression

Participate in the Free Trial

The free trial allows prospective players to explore the vast landscapes of Arrakis for up to 10 hours until August 24. Players can roam around Hagga Basin, albeit with some limitations. Key areas like Harko Village, Arrakeen, and the Deep Desert are inaccessible during this trial phase, though reaching those locations would typically require more than 10 hours of gameplay.

During the trial, players will be confined to free trial servers. Upon purchasing the game, any progress made in story, level, skill points, and backpack contents will carry over. Players will need to reconstruct their bases and vehicles, and any Solaris accumulated beyond 10, 000 will be forfeited. Additionally, players transitioning from the trial to full access will receive several cosmetic rewards.

The Future of Dune: Awakening Content

This marks the first significant content update for Dune: Awakening, and it is highly anticipated by those who have explored Arrakis since the game’s launch earlier this year. Many dedicated players have already experienced the complete set of launch content, making this update a much-needed addition. Community interest will likely be piqued not only by the new content but also by how Funcom plans to rebalance the gameplay dynamics, which could bring further tweaks and enhancements alongside the September 10 launch.
