Overwatch 2 is poised for a triumphant resurgence in China, set to roll out on February 19, coinciding with the initiation of Season 15. Chinese players can look forward to access to various rewards spanning Seasons 1 to 9, along with themes rooted in Chinese mythology.

The announcement of Overwatch 2’s return was made recently, with the game relaunching in full on February 19. Prior to this, a technical test conducted from January 8 to January 15 allowed fans a sneak peek at the content they had missed since the closure of servers during Season 2. This included the highly anticipated Overwatch: Classic mode and the introduction of six new heroes.

Following the conclusion of the technical test, Overwatch 2 has shared enticing details regarding what players can expect upon relaunch. In a recent communication by Aaron Keller, game director for Overwatch 2, on Xiaohongshu, the upcoming multi-week Return to China celebration will bring back popular in-game events and all the rewards players have missed over two long years. Additionally, Chinese gamers will have the opportunity to earn Battle Pass rewards from Seasons 1 and 2 prior to the game’s official relaunch, with Seasons 3 through 9 becoming available through in-game events thereafter.

Keller also announced that Season 15 will showcase skin bundles influenced by Chinese mythology. Currently, the specifics regarding whether these skins are entirely new or existing designs, as well as whether they will remain exclusive to the Chinese version or be part of a broader thematic approach, remains ambiguous.

Global fans won’t have to wait long for updates, as Overwatch 2 Season 15 is scheduled to commence on February 18, just before the game’s official reopening in China. With little over a month until the launch, fans can anticipate an influx of information regarding the upcoming season, with a comprehensive reveal likely in early February.

In addition, players can participate in the “Min 1, Max 3″mode, the second 6v6 test of Overwatch 2, running from January 21 until February 4, where they can experience the classic 2-2-2 team composition. Before Season 15 begins, events like the Lunar New Year celebration and the Moth Meta in Overwatch: Classic will also take place, providing plenty of excitement in the lead-up to the relaunch. While Chinese players might not join these prior events, they can look forward to unique celebrations designed specifically for them.
