CAPCOM is gearing up for the highly anticipated release of Resident Evil Requiem, set to debut in late February. In a detailed interview with the Japanese PlayStation Blog, Director Koshi Nakanishi shared insights into the game’s PlayStation 5 Pro modes, promising an enhanced gaming experience for discerning users.
Exploring PlayStation 5 Pro Modes
Players on the PS5 Pro will benefit from two impressive modes: the option for ray tracing at 60 frames per second or a fast-paced gameplay of up to 120 frames per second with an average of 90 FPS when ray tracing is disabled. This dual-mode capability aims to deliver breathtaking visual fidelity and fluid motion, suitable for varying gameplay preferences.
With ray tracing enabled, users can enjoy the game in stunning 4K resolution at 60fps. Conversely, disabling this feature unlocks the higher frame rates, ideal for those with monitors supporting high refresh rates. In the same interview, Nakanishi elaborated on how Resident Evil Requiem integrates the unique features of the DualSense controller. This includes haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and the built-in controller speaker, all designed to enrich player immersion and enhance the horror experience.
For instance, when a player meets an untimely demise at the jaws of a zombie, the haptic feedback allows them to feel the sensation of a bite, effectively simulating the grim reality of their in-game demise. Moreover, the adaptive triggers modify their resistance during gunfire, providing a tactile authenticity that enhances combat dynamics. As players reload their weapons, subtle vibrations and sounds emitted from the controller add to the overall immersive effect.
These innovative features extend to puzzle-solving elements as well, such as the tactile sensations of jewels rattling inside a box, amplified by controller vibrations and audio cues, ensuring that every interaction within the game world is felt as if it were real.
