Netflix Announces 2025 Korean Movie Lineup: From Lost in the Starlight to Mantis

On October 4, 2024, Netflix provided a sneak peek of seven upcoming Korean films during the Busan International Film Festival. The highly anticipated film lineup for Netflix in 2025 includes titles such as Love Untangled, The Great Flood, Wall to Wall, Lost in Starlight, Mantis, Good News, and Revelations.

This diverse collection spans various genres including thrillers and sci-fi, though the exact release dates for these films have yet to be disclosed.

Korean Films Coming to Netflix in 2025: Mantis, Good News, and More

1) Love Untangled

Directed by Namkoong Sun, Love Untangled is set to be a heartfelt youth romance featuring stars like Shin Eun-soo, Cha Woo-min, Gong Myung, Yoon Sang-hyeon, and Kang Mi-na.

Taking place in 1998, the narrative follows Park Se-ri, a student who struggles with her unruly curly hair and believes she needs to change it before confessing her feelings to her crush. She seeks assistance from transfer student Han Yoon-seok, inadvertently pulling him into her romantic endeavors.

2) The Great Flood

The Great Flood is a sci-fi disaster film crafted by writer and director Kim Byung Woo, starring Kim Da Mi and Park Hae Soo in lead roles.

The plot centers on a catastrophic flood that engulfs the planet. An-Na (played by Kim Da Mi), a skilled AI research scientist, fights for survival alongside Hee-Zo (played by Park Hae Soo), a member of a human resources security team, as they navigate their rapidly flooding apartment complex.

3) Wall to Wall

Another thrilling entry, Wall to Wall, directed by Kim Tae Joon, will feature acclaimed actors Yeom Hye Ran, Kang Ha Neul, and Seo Hyun Woo.

The storyline follows Woo Sung (Kang Ha Neul), a 30-something office worker grappling with financial issues and constant disturbances in his apartment. Teaming up with neighbor Jin-Ho (Seo Hyun Woo), they attempt to uncover the source of the noise while resident representative Eun Hwa (Yeom Hye Ran) strives to keep peace in the building.

4) Lost in Starlight

Directed by Han Ji Won, the animated feature Lost in Starlight stars Hong Kyung and Kim Tae Ri. The narrative follows Nan Young (Kim Tae Ri), an astronaut on a quest to find her mother, who disappeared during a Mars research mission.

Meanwhile, Jay (Hong Kyung), a musician, develops feelings for Nan Young while restoring a record player that belonged to her mother, leading to a unique long-distance relationship that stretches from Mars to Earth.

5) Mantis

Mantis features a talented cast including Im Siwan, Park Gyu Young, and Jo Woo Jin. This film is a spin-off of the 2023 action thriller Kill Boksoon.

The plot chronicles the return of Mantis, an elite assassin who comes out of retirement to engage in a perilous game with his rival Jae-i and the notorious hitman Dok-go to establish who is the ultimate killer.

6) Good News

Another exciting thriller, Good News, directed by Byun Sung Hyun, will feature actors Sul Kyung Gu, Hong Kyung, and Ryoo Seung Bum.

The story is set in 1970 and revolves around a fierce hijacking incident, where a mysterious group seeks to take control of a passenger aircraft.

7) Revelations

Revelations, another thriller on Netflix’s 2025 slate, is helmed by Yeon Sang Ho, starring Ryu Jun Yeol and Shin Hyun Bin in pivotal roles.

The tale begins when ex-convict Yang-Rae intrudes upon Pastor Min Chan’s (Ryu Jun Yeol) church, leading to chaos in his life. After receiving a divine message indicating Yang-Rae is responsible for his son’s disappearance, Detective Yeon-Hee (Shin Hyun Been) pursues him, convinced that Pastor Min-Chan has a darker agenda.

These films highlight the exciting array set to premiere on Netflix in 2025. In addition to these movies, Netflix has also scheduled a range of K-dramas for next year, including anticipated titles like Squid Game 3, Mercy for None, and When Life Gives You Tangerines.
