NetEase Could Be Spreading False Marvel Competitors Info to Disrupt Leakers and Dataminers

Fans of Marvel Rivals have expressed significant concern following allegations that NetEase may be manipulating data within the game’s code to thwart dataminers from revealing information about upcoming heroes. While there is currently scant evidence supporting this theory, such speculation has led to anxiety among the gaming community that it could indeed hold some truth.

Dataminers utilize various techniques to delve into code, hoping to unearth valuable insights. Recently, some snippets of hero-related information were leaked from the Marvel Rivals code. Although the arrival of The Fantastic Four has been officially confirmed by NetEase, with characters like Susan Storm and Mister Fantastic making their debut in season one, these revelations first came to light via datamines before any formal announcement.

Panic was reignited earlier this month when renowned X user Rivals_Leaks compiled multiple leaks that appeared to be alarmingly accurate. This situation has led fans to increasingly question the authenticity of future leaks. In response, Rivals_Leaks reassured the community, suggesting that the idea of NetEase embedding false data to mislead leakers is probably “unlikely.”

In a recent post on X, Saulman11835779 shared a screenshot from a Discord conversation where an individual named Keone alleged that “a bunch of the Marvel leaks are fake.”According to this discussion, NetEase might be inserting deceptive code intended to “catch leakers”and prevent insiders from prematurely divulging details about new heroes. This revelation has left the community bewildered about which leaks might be accurate, especially considering announcements regarding heroes like Professor X and members of the X-Men.

This information should be regarded with caution, as the validity of claims regarding NetEase’s alleged strategy remains unclear. Some argue that it would require considerable effort for developers to embed intricate falsehoods into the code simply to hinder leakers. Conversely, many believe that given the game’s expanding popularity, NetEase may feel compelled to protect its intellectual property. Regardless, the future looks bright for Rivals, as several characters are confirmed to be introduced soon.
