NCT’s Jaehyun Writes Emotional Letter to Fans Ahead of Military Enlistment: “We’re Unconditionally Timeless”

On September 26, 2024, SM Entertainment officially announced that NCT’s Jaehyun is scheduled to enlist in the military on November 4. Through the DearU Bubble app, the renowned K-pop idol shared an emotional message with his fans regarding this significant update. He emphasized how his career as an idol has granted him the opportunity to connect with NCTzens, the loyal fanbase of NCT.

“Have you been well? You must be surprised at the sudden news, but I will enlist in the military in November. I want to express my feelings to NCTzens shortly. If it weren’t for this job, I would have never been able to experience the precious memories with fans, our precious relationship, and the size of love, and I am grateful for it once again,”he expressed.

Jaehyun reassured his supporters that he would fulfill his mandatory military service with dedication and return safely.

“I’ve always gone at my own pace, and I am so thankful and love all of you who have always trusted and walked by my side. Although I say that I will be back quickly and wait just a little bit, I will surely miss you all.[…] I will continue to work hard as I look back on our memories and anticipate the future that is to come. We’re unconditionally timeless.”

Military Enlistment Announcement for NCT’s Jaehyun Via Weverse

SM Entertainment revealed the K-pop idol’s military enlistment date on Weverse, indicating that there would be no public event to respect the privacy and safety of all soldiers and recruits. According to Sports Chosun, Jaehyun received an acceptance notification from the Military Manpower Administration for the Army Band on September 26. Fans have been asked to refrain from visiting the training camp to avoid overcrowding.

“NCT’s Jaehyun applied to join the military band, and today he received his notice of acceptance from the Military Manpower Administration. Therefore, he will join the military on November 4 and fulfill his mandatory service. […] There will be no separate event to prevent any accidents caused by crowding at the venue.”

Jaehyun made his debut as a member of NCT 127, NCT U, and NCT Do Jaejung in 2016. On August 26, 2024, he released his first studio album, J, featuring tracks such as “Flamin’ Hot Lemon,””Smoke,””Roses,””Dandelion,””Completely,””Easy,””Can’t Get You,”and the English version of “Smoke.”

He first showcased the album’s pre-release track, “Dandelion,”alongside American artist Lauv at the 2024 Seoul Jazz Festival before the album launch. The album debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard Japan Hot Albums Chart.
