NACON’s Recent Challenges: A Closer Look
French video game publisher NACON, known for titles such as Hell is Us and the eagerly awaited Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss, has encountered significant turbulence this past week. Just a week prior, the company had announced an upcoming showcase, NACON Connect, aiming to highlight new projects and provide early insights into releases scheduled for 2026 and beyond.
Insolvency Filing Raises Questions
However, two days later, NACON made headlines for a different reason: it filed for insolvency amidst serious complications with its principal shareholder, Bigben Interactive. This unexpected development has cast doubt on the company’s sustainability and the future release of its current game projects, leading to concerns that liquidation could be imminent without a resolution to its financial issues.
Postponement of NACON Connect
The uncertainty surrounding NACON’s financial health continues. As of today, the company has confirmed the postponement of the NACON Connect event. In a statement released on X (formerly Twitter), NACON acknowledged the severity of its circumstances, describing them as “a difficult moment for us.”

The statement indicated that while the event initially planned for two days from the announcement date is now delayed, NACON remains committed to enhancing the launch of its upcoming games and aims to unveil new projects once its financial situation stabilizes.
Upcoming Titles and Future Outlook
Despite the current turmoil, NACON reassured fans that its schedule for forthcoming titles—including Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss, The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu, Terminator: Survivors, Endurance Motorsport Series, Hunting Simulator 3, and Gear. Club Unlimited 3—remains “on track.” The company also noted it has many projects still in development.
Currently, The Cosmic Abyss is the only title with a confirmed release date, while others like The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu and Terminator: Survivors are scheduled for 2026. The remaining announced titles do not yet have specific release windows.
Impact on Studios
Perhaps even more crucial than the schedule of game releases is the fate of the studios owned by NACON. In the event that NACON faces liquidation, the repercussions could affect a total of 12 studios under its umbrella, leading to significant implications for employees and ongoing projects.
As the situation develops, industry watchers and fans alike will be keenly observing NACON’s next steps and the broader trends in the gaming market, especially given the increasing challenges faced by publishers in today’s economic climate.
