“My Seven in a Frame” – Coway Indonesia Unveils New BTS Endorsement Amid Protests for SUGA’s Removal: Fan Reactions

On October 14, 2024, Coway Indonesia’s official Instagram account unveiled a fresh endorsement featuring BTS members to promote their ice maker. The brand showcased a captivating video along with individual photos of each member endorsing the ice machine.

This latest endorsement surfaced amid rising calls for SUGA’s departure from the group, driven by anti-fans reacting to a recent DUI (driving under the influence) incident involving him.

For those who might not know, SUGA garnered media attention following a DUI event that occurred on August 6, 2024. The vocalist of “First Love”made headlines after riding an electric scooter while intoxicated, following a dinner outing with friends, in the Hannam neighborhood of the Yongsan District.

Since then, SUGA has faced significant backlash, including escalating demands from anti-fans for his ousting from BTS. In contrast, the endorsement video and photos featuring all seven members evoked a strong emotional response among many fans. Supportive messages flooded social media, with one user on X reflecting:

“My seven in a frame”

A majority of fans echoed sentiments affirming BTS as a united septet, eagerly looking forward to 2025 when the members will reunite after completing their mandatory military service. The K-pop sensation announced a hiatus for solo endeavors and military commitments back in June 2022.

“THESE COWAY PICTURES ARE MAKING ME EMOTIONAL I MISS MY BABIES” – commented a fan.

“My babies I’m in tears just seeing one ot7 pic 2025 will heal me. can’t wait” – wrote another user on X.

Another fan expressed their feelings, demanding to ‘BRING THEM BACK.’

“I’M SOBBING INCONTROLLABLY I’M NOT OKAY AT ALL BRING THEM BACK” – commented another X user.

“7= BTS.” – stated an admirer.

“Ah i didn’t know I would also miss their overly whitened photos (I believe the members have beautiful skin tones but often the Korean industry or Big Hit tends to whitewash them a lot). I need my seven now. I have waited long” – wrote another fan.

“THAT’S RIGHT!!! BTS IS F*CKING 7 AND BTS WILL ALWAYS BE F*CKING 7!!” – a fan asserted.

Floral wreaths delivered to HYBE’s office protesting SUGA’s involvement with BTS

On October 20, 2024, the DUI incident involving SUGA sparked a wave of online discussions, leading to the delivery of numerous floral wreaths to HYBE from critics. This came as netizens voiced their desire for SUGA’s dismissal from the boy band following the DUI incident, which was further discussed on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

During the last episode aired on October 18, host Stephen Colbert noted that SUGA faced substantial backlash and public indignation after allegedly riding an electric scooter while under the influence back in August 2024.

This commentary stirred frustration among many Korean netizens, prompting them to send floral wreaths to HYBE while demanding SUGA’s removal from BTS.

However, a swift counter-response arose as BTS fans gathered outside the HYBE office in Seoul, chanting the members’ names—”Kim Namjoon, Kim Seokjin, Min Yoongi, Jung Hoseok, Park Jimin, Kim Taehyung, Jeon Jungkook, BTS” —to show their unwavering support for the Daechwita artist.

At the current time, SUGA is actively fulfilling his military duties, with an expected discharge date in June 2025, having started his service in September 2023.
