“Pushing boundaries and breaking barriers”: Beyoncé honored with Innovator Award at the iHeart Music Awards

The 42-year-old began her speech by stating that innovation often begins with a dream and that the execution of that dream can be challenging. She continued by saying:

“Being an innovator is doing what everyone believes is impossible. Being an innovator often means being criticized, which often will test your mental strength. Being an innovator is leaning on faith and trusting that God will catch you and guide you.”

Next, the Grammy-winner directed their message towards music labels, award shows, and radio stations with the following statement:

“my hope is that we’re more open to the joy and liberation that comes from enjoying art with no preconceived notions. I want to dedicate this award to all the innovators who have dedicated their lives and their art to creating shifts. Thank you for your sacrifice and your powerful forces and your dauntless spirit.”

Giving credit to some of her sources of inspiration, she praised Linda Martell, Andre 3000, Tina Turner, Michael Jackson, Tracy Chapman, and Sister Rosetta Tharpe.

On March 29, 2024, the artist, who hails from Houston, Texas, debuted her 27-track album titled Cowboy Carter. The record includes collaborations with renowned musicians such as Miley Cyrus, Post Malone, Dolly Parton, Reyna Roberts, and many others. While some tracks, like 16 Carriages, may give off a country vibe, Beyoncé has stated otherwise. In previous statements, she clarified:

“This ain’t a Country album. This is a ‘Beyoncé’ album.”

The album, initially announced as Act II, follows the singer’s Renaissance masterpiece.

Concerns over missing tracks on Cowboy Carter vinyl

Despite the celebration of her win, there have been reports circulating online over the weekend about certain tracks missing from the physical CDs and vinyl of her Cowboy Carter album. It has been noted that the vinyls do not include Flamenco, The Linda Martell Show, Oh Louisiana, and Spaghetti, while the CD version is also missing all of these tracks except for Flamenco.

Bey has a history of modifying her creations. After receiving backlash for allegedly demeaning those with cerebral palsy on a track from her Renaissance album, she changed the lyric.

At the time of writing this article, Beyoncé has not personally addressed the same. However, she did release a press release last week regarding her latest album. In regards to Cowboy Carter, she stated:

“It’s been really great to have the time and the grace to be able to take my time with it.”

Despite originally planning to release the album in 2022, the Crazy In Love singer ultimately made the decision not to do so due to the Covid-19 pandemic. As a result, Renaissance was released instead.
