An exciting development for fans of My Hero Academia has been announced, as a new short story will be adapted into anime format. This adaptation will be featured in the home video release of “My Hero Academia: You’re Next,”which is the fourth film in the franchise, set to debut in Japanese cinemas in 2024.

Continuing the tradition of original narratives within the movie series, “You’re Next”will be crafted by returning staff, including scriptwriter Yosuke Kuroda. However, there’s a notable change in the directorial role, with Tensai Okamura (known for works like Wolf’s Rain and Blue Exorcist) stepping in for Kenji Nagasaki.

The home video version will be available starting February 19, 2025, in Japan, but the accompanying short OVA will be exclusive to purchasers of the deluxe “Plus Ultra Edition.”This animated piece will adapt the one-shot titled “A Piece of Cake,” created by the acclaimed author Kohei Horikoshi.

What is the “A Piece of Cake”One-Shot?

This one-shot was a bonus aspect of the promotional materials, offered to moviegoers in Japan. It acts as a narrative preface to “You’re Next,”showcasing beloved characters such as Deku (Midoriya) and Bakugo from U.A. Hero Class 1-A. Set during the U.A. Traitor Arc of the manga, the story introduces an antagonist who attempts to embody a hero idolized by Midoriya.

Conclusion of My Hero Academia Manga

After a decade of storytelling, the My Hero Academia manga reached its serialization finale in August 2024. The concluding volume is slated for release in December and will feature a special epilogue. Positioned as one of the quintessential manga series of the 2010s, the upcoming anime season is confirmed to be the last, bringing the saga’s animated adaptation to a close.

Set in a realm populated by superheroes governed by regulatory institutions, the narrative centers around Midoriya, who aspires to be a hero despite initially lacking a Quirk (the term for individual super capabilities). His journey takes a transformative turn when he inherits the legendary Quirk of his idol, All Might.

The My Hero Academia manga and its various spin-offs are published in the United States by Viz Media, while the anime series is available for streaming on Crunchyroll, offering both subbed and dubbed options.
