Neil Gaiman Faces Sexual Assault Allegations from Multiple Women

Neil Gaiman, the acclaimed fantasy author famous for his bestselling novels and popular adaptations such as American Gods, The Sandman, and Good Omens, is under scrutiny following new sexual assault allegations. These accusations initially surfaced in 2024 when five women came forward, alleging non-consensual sexual encounters with Gaiman. Despite his denials, these allegations have significantly impacted his professional trajectory, leading to the cancellation of his adaptation of The Graveyard Book by Disney and Gaiman’s decision to step back from Good Omens season 3, which is now being reduced to a single episode.

A recent report by Vulture elaborates on the allegations from eight women, revisiting accounts from previous accusers. Among the most detailed narratives is that of Scarlett Pavlovich, who described her non-consensual sexual experience with Gaiman at his residence on Waiheke Island, New Zealand. Pavlovich, who previously babysat for Gaiman’s ex-wife, Amanda Palmer, claimed this connection led to a troubling BDSM relationship where she was forced to address him as “master”and participate in painful activities.

According to Pavlovich, after her negative experiences, she was coerced into signing a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) that included an initial payment of $1,700, followed by additional payments totaling $9,200 over nine months.

Despite confiding in Palmer and filing a police report, the lack of statements from both Palmer and Gaiman has hindered any legal action. Another accuser, referred to as Caroline, echoed similar claims, stating that Gaiman provided financial compensation for coerced sexual favors, capturing attention with a substantial NDA worth $300,000 after initially being offered just $5,000. Kendra Stout, who met Gaiman at the age of 18, also reported experiencing non-consensual BDSM activities, alleging she was physically abused and raped during a trip in 2007.

Five of the eight reported allegations have been discussed in greater detail on the podcast Master, hosted by Paul Caruana Galizia and Rachel Johnson.

Gaiman and his representatives have categorically denied the claims, asserting that all relationships were consensual, including Caroline’s assertion that their sexual engagement was initiated by her. The report sheds light on troubling and disturbing accounts related to Gaiman’s personal interactions, providing an unsettling perspective on the seriousness of the allegations against him.
