Muay Thai king Prajanchai says he took kickboxing switch like a duck to water: “I had no problem with the transition”

Prajanchai PK Saenchai, current ONE strawweight Muay Thai world champion, has acknowledged that he had no problem transitioning to a different discipline in preparation for his upcoming kickboxing world title bout against Jonathan Di Bella at ONE Friday Fights 58.

The evening of April 5 saw the Thai striking specialist aiming for two-sport success, as he competed for the Canadian-Italian’s strawweight kickboxing world title which was being contested at the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Despite recognizing areas for potential improvement, the Bangkok native, who is affiliated with the PK Saenchai Muay Thai Gym, stated that he did not encounter significant difficulties while wearing 10-ounce gloves instead of his usual four-ounce mitts in ‘The Art of Eight Limbs.’

Prajanchai shared with ONE Championship that the outcome of his showdown with Jonathan Di Bella will be determined by his fight IQ, as he strives for two-sport glory.

“My style is already close to kickboxing, so I had no problem with the transition. I just had to remind myself what weapons were and weren’t allowed.”

Despite being a Thailand megastar, this 29-year-old is far from an average striker in the martial arts world. With over 400 fights in Muay Thai under his belt, he has encountered numerous obstacles on his journey to becoming a multi-time world champion.

Despite being under kickboxing rules, Di Bella is aware that as the strawweight Muay Thai kingpin, he will face a unique and challenging opponent.

Join the action and witness these two fighters go head-to-head at ONE Friday Fights 58, which will be broadcasted live on global pay-per-view at watch.onefc.com during Asia’s prime time on April 5.

Prajanchai’s Kicks: The Key to Victory Against Di Bella

Despite anticipating a tough fight against Di Bella in their champion-versus-champion match-up, Prajanchai is confident in his abilities and believes he has a good chance of winning when they face off in the Thai capital city.

At 29 years old, he is known for having one of the most polished kicking games in Muay Thai, and he appears to be quite assured that it will be sufficient to unnerve the reigning champion at the iconic venue of Muay Thai.

During the same interview with ONE, he also mentioned:

“In his fight with Danial, Di Bella showed his toughness when he got leg kicked by Danial. He didn’t show any sign of pain. But that was Danial’s kick, not my kick. I want to know if he’ll still be able to withstand it when I kick him.”
