For those who find the wait for the MSI Mystic Light application to launch tedious, MSI has introduced Portal X, a lightweight, web-based tool designed for swift access to your MSI hardware’s lighting effects. Announced in a blog post, this new utility simplifies the process of adjusting lighting modes, so long as the components are MSI products.

Reportedly, Portal X is compatible with a broad range of memory modules, allowing users to synchronize lighting across multiple components effortlessly. MSI has highlighted notable distinctions between Portal X and Mystic Light: the former does not require regular updates. Users simply need to download and install it once; thereafter, it will open in a web browser. The tool is supported on both Edge and Chrome browsers, presenting an interface where users can effortlessly adjust RGB lighting modes.

However, it’s essential to note that consistent internet access is a prerequisite for utilizing Portal X. If users have connected their fans and AIO coolers to the motherboard’s ARGB headers, they can also manage the RGB lighting of those components through the tool. Nevertheless, current capabilities do not extend to fan speed adjustments or AIO cooler display management. MSI may consider implementing these features in future updates based on user demand.
