MSI Reports Surge in Q2 Revenue Driven by Motherboard and PC Shipments
The recent surge in interest surrounding artificial intelligence (AI), coupled with the typical consumer upgrade cycle, has prompted competitors such as Gigabyte, ASUS, and ASRock to accelerate the release of new products. Amidst this competitive landscape, MSI has witnessed substantial adoption rates from PC users.
According to a report from DigiTimes, MSI’s motherboard shipments have crossed the significant milestone of 10 million units, marking a pivotal achievement for the company and narrowing the gap with Gigabyte. Interestingly, MSI also has larger ambitions in the AI server market.
Noteworthy developments include MSI’s exceptional offerings powered by AMD’s X870 and Intel’s Z890 platforms, which combine innovative thermal designs with appealing aesthetics. The company is also expanding its reach in the budget-friendly segment, highlighted by products like the MAG B850M Mortar Wi-Fi motherboard, which has been extensively reviewed.

These advancements have enabled MSI to enhance its market share in the motherboard sector, achieving record-high shipments and intensifying competition with brands like ASUS and Gigabyte.
Looking ahead, MSI’s notebook shipments are projected to rise significantly, potentially reaching 2.55 million units by 2025. Although the company faced some challenges due to recent US tariffs, the latest quarterly earnings reflected a new record for the first half of the year, indicating robust sales momentum. As other AIBs leverage the AI trend, MSI aims to elevate its offerings in this sector, particularly with enterprise solutions such as the NVIDIA MGX AI servers and its latest custom configuration for NVIDIA’s DGX Spark supercomputer.
To maintain this growth trajectory, MSI plans to expand its production facilities, including the establishment of new sites in the US to meet consumer demand effectively. Additionally, the company’s GPU division has shown strong performance, achieving 5 million units shipped and reaching a competitive market share comparable to ASUS.
