NVIDIA’s board partners are ramping up the manufacturer’s suggested retail prices (MSRPs) for their upcoming RTX 50 series graphics processing units (GPUs), particularly with the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, a trend observed on MSI’s official site.
Escalating Prices: MSI’s GeForce RTX 5070 Ti GPUs Soar Past $1000
The landscape for NVIDIA’s latest Blackwell Gaming GPUs is becoming increasingly concerning. While NVIDIA seems to be intentionally limiting the availability of its RTX 50 series, its board partners are quick to follow suit by hiking the prices of their custom models.
Although true market availability of these GPUs remains uncertain, board partners are establishing a precedent whereby prices are consistently exceeding their original MSRPs. A recent case in point is MSI’s recent adjustment, where all variants of the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti have seen a subtle, yet significant price increase.
Initially launched approximately two weeks ago at a base price of $749 for both the Founders Edition and standard vendor cards, the MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16G Shadow 3X has now been listed at $819.99—an increase of $70. This price hike reflects a broader trend where high-performance GPUs are increasingly positioned above their retail benchmarks.

It’s intriguing to note that this price point is quite close to that of the GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition, despite the RTX 5070 Ti being less powerful. For those considering variants with slightly enhanced specs, such as the RTX 5070 Ti 16G Shadow 3X OC—which offers just 30 MHz higher clock speeds—the cost increases by an additional $20.
For consumers looking to upgrade further, the Ventus 3X OC model begins at $899. From this point forward, custom editions are generally priced above $900. Some noteworthy examples include:
- RTX 5070 Ti 16G Inspire 3X OC Plus – $929
- RTX 5070 Ti Gaming Trio OC Plus – $969
- RTX 5070 Ti 16G Vanguard SOC – $979
- Limited RTX 5070 Ti 16G Vanguard SOC Launch Edition – $999

It’s disheartening to observe such price inflation even before the GPUs have established themselves in the market. This scenario becomes even more precarious with AMD poised to launch its direct competitor, the Radeon RX 9070 XT, at a more accessible price point of $599. It is hoped that this forthcoming release will deliver superior value and availability, providing consumers with a more balanced choice compared to NVIDIA’s current offerings.
