MSI recently unveiled an impressive array of AMD AM5 motherboards, spotlighting the MEG X870E ACE and B850MPOWER as key offerings, alongside a selection of Mini-ITX designs.
MSI Expands AMD AM5 Motherboard Range: MEG X870E ACE for Enthusiasts, B850MPOWER for Overclockers, and Innovative Mini-ITX Options
Notably, a prevailing trend at Computex is the increased focus of motherboard manufacturers on AM5 platforms, reflecting the growing enthusiasm for AMD Ryzen setups among gamers. Consequently, MSI has introduced a variety of new designs, catering to diverse user preferences.
MSI MEG X870E ACE: A Top-Tier Option for AM5 Enthusiasts
Leading the release is the MSI MEG X870E ACE, the latest iteration in the ACE series, which builds upon features from the earlier Z890 series while introducing several enhancements. This premium motherboard is designed with high-end specifications, including multiple VRMs, a dual 8-pin power connector setup, and four DDR5 memory slots that support impressive frequencies.

One standout feature is the novel Illusion Lightning system that illuminates the front I/O panel and features the distinctive MSI dragon logo. The I/O layout includes five M.2 slots, with two dedicated to Gen5 connections and all slots equipped with M.2 Shield Frozr heatsinks to ensure optimal thermal management. Furthermore, the motherboard incorporates a unique wavy fin design coupled with Direct-Touch cross heat pipes for enhanced VRM cooling efficiency.

Additional capabilities include 10 GbE LAN, WiFi 7, and USB 40G ports—key innovations in MSI’s AM5 portfolio. The board also features a single 8-pin connector dedicated to PCIe lane power and dual PCIe 5.0 x16 slots, aligning with various design standards for ease of use.
MSI B850MPOWER: Elevating Mainstream Overclocking
Next in line is the MSI B850MPOWER, a motherboard we’ve previewed in April and now finalized for enthusiast overclockers. This motherboard also accommodates the AM5 socket but distinguishes itself with a modern aesthetic shift back to the classic black and yellow color scheme previously seen in the original MPOWER and XPOWER models. Additionally, the B850MPOWER adopts an mATX form factor.

The design includes two DDR5 DIMM slots capable of supporting up to 128 GB of memory. Positioned next to the DIMM slots is an M.2 slot, covered by an extensive heatsink that also envelops the additional three M.2 slots beneath it.

The motherboard provides several fan connectors and features two SATA III ports, along with an EZ Dashboard that consolidates power, reset, Clear CMOS, and DEBUG LED functionalities for straightforward diagnostics.
MSI’s ITX Considerations: Impressive White Aesthetics
In an exciting turn, MSI has rolled out three new ITX motherboards, all featuring a striking white color scheme: the MPG X870I Edge TI Wi-Fi, MPG B850I Edge TI Wi-Fi, and the MPG B860I Edge TI Wi-Fi.

The top-tier MPG X870I Edge TI Wi-Fi distinguishes itself with a full PCIe Gen5 x16 slot, triple M.2 slots (one supporting the latest Gen5 standard), and cutting-edge features such as a Lightning USB 40G port and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity. Its VRM cooling solution includes an active fan, while a unique second PCB for extending I/O capabilities presents a significant innovation for Mini-ITX designs.

Innovative Features: Backside Connectivity and Unique Aesthetic Variants
MSI also introduced intriguing options like the MAG X870E Tomahawk Wi-Fi PZ, featuring a unique backside connector layout designed to streamline PC builds.

This motherboard also marks a departure from traditional designs with its white coloration, a first for the MAG Tomahawk series, alongside an extended VRM heatsink, four M.2 slots (including two Gen5), PCIe 5.0 x16 slots, USB 40G, and WiFi 7 capabilities. This innovative design revitalizes the Tomahawk line and underscores MSI’s commitment to broader aesthetics and functionality in their offerings.

Lastly, MSI showcased a vibrant pink MPG X870 EDGE TI Wi-Fi motherboard, appealing to those drawn to thematic and anime-inspired designs.

This motherboard was part of a themed display, appealing to niche markets keen on personalization and unique aesthetics.
