MSI B860, B850, & B840 Motherboard Leaks: Specs and Designs for Intel & AMD CPUs Revealed

MSI is gearing up for the upcoming release of budget-friendly motherboards tailored for Intel’s LGA 1851 and AMD’s AM5 platforms, specifically featuring the B860, B850, and B840 models. These innovations cater to both existing and future Intel and AMD processors.

Upcoming Leaks: MSI’s 800-Series Motherboards for Intel and AMD

As the CES event approaches, industry insiders anticipate announcements regarding new CPU models from both Intel and AMD. Intel’s focus will be on budget, non-overclockable Arrow Lake processors, while AMD is set to unveil its high-end Ryzen 9000X3D series. Interestingly, both companies currently lack budget options within their 800-series motherboard lineups, which are expected to be introduced soon.

For Intel’s Arrow Lake desktop CPUs, two key chipsets are in development: the B860 and H810. AMD will offer the B850 and B840 chipsets. Notably, a recent leak from @momomo_us has unveiled images of several upcoming MSI motherboards featuring three of these chipsets: the Intel B860, AMD B850, and AMD B840. The leaked models include:

  • MAG B860 Tomahawk WiFi
  • PRO B850-P WiFi
  • B850 Gaming Plus WiFi
  • PRO B840-P WiFi

The MAG B860 Tomahawk WiFi motherboard is designed for Intel processors and features a sleek black PCB with green accents. Its specifications include four DIMM slots, two PCI-E x16 slots, and one PCI-E x1 slot, complemented by three M.2 connectors and four SATA ports. A notable addition is the support for WiFi 7 and Thunderbolt 4 ports on the I/O panel. Powering capabilities include two 8-pin EPS connectors situated above the DIMM slots and an extra 8-pin PCI-E connector at the bottom, which can provide up to 150W of power to the GPU, supplemented by 75W from the PCI-E x16 slot.

MSI PRO B850-P WiFi Motherboard

Next in line is the MSI PRO B850-P WiFi, which showcases a black PCB highlighted with white and silver heatsinks. This motherboard stands out by featuring four PCI-E x16 slots, a rarity among budget boards, along with three M.2 slots and four SATA ports, enhancing its versatility for storage solutions.

MSI B840 Gaming Plus WiFi Motherboard

The third model, the MSI B840 Gaming Plus WiFi, displays an eye-catching design with its white heatsinks and grey-blue accents. This motherboard includes an impressive five PCI-E x16 slots, although not all can be used simultaneously due to PCI-E lane limitations. It sacrifices the bottom 8-pin PCI-E connector, aligning it more towards an entry-level offering.

Lastly, we have the MSI PRO B840-P WiFi, which, like the B840 Gaming Plus, offers five PCI-E x16 slots. This motherboard also features four DIMMs, two M.2 connectors, four SATA ports, and basic connectivity options. Full specifications, features, pricing, and availability details for all these motherboards are expected to be revealed at CES.
