Morgan Wade posts before and after photos as she works out in the gym post-surgery

Country singer Morgan Wade shared updates on her recovery and workout routine on Instagram, showcasing photos and a video. The post featured her performing pull-ups while still wearing bandages and surgical drains, showcasing her determination and commitment to her recovery process.

The 29-year-old country singer had a significant surgery in late 2023 as a precautionary measure against breast cancer. After a recovery period of over four months, she took to Instagram to update her followers on her experience and healing process and also addressed some inquiries about the procedure.

The initial photo is believed to be a comparison of the singer’s progress. The ‘before’ image captures her wearing bandages and medical drains, most likely taken shortly after her surgery.

In the ‘after’ picture, she can be seen wearing a black cap and flexing her bicep, indicating that her healing process is making progress. The noticeable contrast between the two images serves as evidence of her improvement.

The remaining two photos depict Morgan Wade at various points in her recovery journey. One captures her sitting on a couch, wrapped in bandages, while the other showcases her in a red and black checkered shirt while lying on a bed.

The last post captures Morgan Wade completing a set of pull-ups in a video. This holds particular importance as she noted in the caption that performing pull-ups and push-ups was a challenge at first due to her inability to lie on her stomach after her surgery.

Morgan Wade Opens Up About Her Surgery and Interacts with Fans on Instagram

In her Instagram post’s caption, Morgan Wade revealed that she carries the ‘rad51d’ gene mutation and a history of breast cancer in her family. As a result, she placed importance on prevention and underwent preventive surgery rather than seeking a cure.

Wade also shared an update on her recovery and detailed the activities she’s been engaging in to help facilitate the healing process. She referenced this in the caption:

“It’s been 4 months and I’ve been back to powerlifting and running. Started back to that around January.”

The singer began incorporating exercises such as push-ups and pull-ups into her routine and receiving massages last month. Prior to this, she was unable to perform these demanding tasks due to her inability to lie on her stomach.

Morgan Wade concluded her post by addressing the most frequently asked questions from her followers regarding her surgery and its aftermath.

The singer confessed to getting implants and expressed her satisfaction with the results. Additionally, she disclosed that she chose not to have nipples due to her aunt’s battle with cancer originating in the same area, as she wanted to avoid any potential risks.

The caption also included the psychological aspect of the journey. She admitted,

“It was an adjustment to look at myself for a minute. I’m still adjusting to how different my body looks – change is never easy – but this was worth it.”

After the entire process, Morgan Wade openly expressed her lack of regrets and expressed gratitude towards God for her rapid healing.

“…I look forward to a healthy long life Lord willing.”

Ultimately, she addressed her future course of action, specifically two additional preventative surgeries. Nevertheless, she planned to delay these operations due to her relatively young age.

The post concluded with a heartfelt thank you to all her supporters for their unwavering love and encouragement. She also expressed her excitement for her upcoming tour.

Understanding Morgan Wade’s Gene Mutation: The Reason for Her Preventive Surgery

In November 2023, Morgan Wade revealed that she had received a positive result for a mutated BRCA gene, which could potentially increase her risk for developing breast cancer in the future.

The country singer clarified that her family history of breast cancer and genetic makeup put her at risk, leading her to make the brave choice of undergoing preventive surgery.

Morgan Wade clarified that she has no concerns regarding the entire procedure, except for the fact that she will not be able to go to the gym. The singer elaborated, stating:

“I’m feeling fine, I’m just pissed I won’t be able to work out because I really like working out.”

The BRCA genes, short for the ‘BReast CAncer gene,’ refer to two types of genes found in humans: BRCA1 and BRCA2. According to the CDC, these genes play a crucial role in repairing DNA sequences that can cause breast cancer.

Nonetheless, if a BRCA gene becomes mutated, it could result in a malfunction of the DNA repairing process and greatly elevate the likelihood of the individual developing breast cancer at some point in their lifetime.

Studies have shown that a significant percentage of women, ranging from 55-65% with a defective BRCA1 gene and 45% with a mutated BRCA2 gene, are at risk of developing breast cancer before the age of 70. Furthermore, the National Breast Cancer Foundation states that these genetic mutations can be inherited and passed down through multiple generations.
