“More Slim” Galaxy S26 Edge Still Expected

Despite facing criticism for its ultra-slim iPhone Air, Apple seems to have inadvertently sparked renewed interest in Samsung’s forthcoming Galaxy S26 Edge. Recent reports from the Netherlands suggest that not only is the S26 Edge project still progressing, but it is also on track for a launch next year, although it will experience a significant delay.

Expected Delayed Launch for Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge

According to GalaxyClub, a prominent outlet in the Netherlands, Samsung is actively developing a device with the unusual codename “More Slim.”This revelation is particularly intriguing considering that the previous Galaxy S25 Edge was produced under the codename “Slim.”

What makes the situation even more puzzling is that work on the “More Slim”model reportedly began later than the development of the Galaxy S26 Edge itself. This leads to some interesting speculation about Samsung’s strategic direction.

It appears that Samsung is working on two distinct thin-profile models for the upcoming year: a standard S26 Edge and a more avant-garde ultra-slim variant. Given Apple’s challenges with the iPhone Air, Samsung might be pivoting away from the conventional S26 Edge, choosing instead to focus on its more innovative iteration as a way to stand out in a competitive market.

Here’s a timeline of what we anticipate for the S26 series launch in 2026. Initially, Samsung is expected to roll out the S26 Pro, Plus, and Ultra variants in early 2026. Notably, the Plus variant will be making a comeback after its absence in recent releases.

Later in the year, we can expect to see the “More Slim”S26 Edge, likely positioned as a replacement for the S26 FE. However, this model raises some concerns about its battery capacity.

To tackle the challenges of an ultra-thin design while ensuring adequate power supply, Samsung might explore the use of silicon-carbon (SiC) batteries. This battery technology has gained traction among various Chinese manufacturers and could provide a viable solution for the S26 Edge’s power needs.
