“More fights than Joe Rogan!” – Fans react in awe as Laura Sanko revisits her MMA pro debut after recent criticism from ex-UFC fighter
After facing criticism from a former UFC lightweight fighter, Laura Sanko took the time to reflect on her professional MMA debut.
Sanko made a significant achievement in her career as a broadcaster when she became the first woman to serve as a color commentator in the modern history of UFC. She began her position as a color commentator on ‘Dana White’s Contender Series’ last year.
Despite this, Jamie Varner strongly believes that Sanko does not add any value to the commentary booth. The former WEC lightweight champion stated that the 41-year-old MMA analyst should be replaced with someone who has direct experience in the world of fighting.
While being interviewed on the JAXXON PODCAST, ‘Fancy’ discussed her only professional MMA fight before transitioning to a career in broadcasting. She mentioned her second-round submission win against Cassie Robb at Invicta FC 4 in January 2013, in response to criticisms from Varner about her limited fighting background.
The UFC commentator declared that the lack of an atomweight division in the UFC ultimately led to her retirement from combat sports. Despite this, she later got married and became a mother, but continued to devote herself to MMA training.

The Praise for Laura Sanko’s Commentary Skills from Dana White
Laura Sanko made her debut as a UFC pay-per-view commentator at UFC 293 in September of last year, impressing UFC CEO Dana White with her exceptional microphone abilities.
During a press conference held later that same month, White openly conveyed his deep gratitude for Sanko.
“She knew everything about every kid here and she watched every single fight that you could watch on all the kids that were on the card. She’s a true professional. She knows she’s like the Ronda Rousey, you know, of commentating. She knows she’s first; she knows she’s carrying the banner for women to break into this role.”
