The Ore upgrade tree in Monster Hunter Wilds may initially appear straightforward, but these weapons possess impressive base damage capabilities. Particularly effective against monsters with low physical defense, Ore weapons represent a reliable choice for various hunts. Moreover, they do not mandate specific monster materials for upgrades, helping players avoid unnecessary backtracking.
As players venture into advanced game regions, they’ll encounter rare ores for further weapon enhancements along the Ore upgrade paths. One notable late-game ore, Lightcrystals, can be located in low-rank areas, and this guide will provide insights on efficient farming techniques for this valuable resource.
Locating Lightcrystals in Monster Hunter Wilds

You can find Lightcrystals by interacting with Mining Outcrops located in the Ruins of Wyveria, accessible during Chapter 3-1. Once in this area, players can explore various Mining Outcrops to collect Lightcrystals, which are essential for unlocking the final low-rank upgrades within the ore tree. In addition to Lightcrystals, interacting with these outcrops may yield:
- Machalite
- Dragonite
Both Machalite and Dragonite are crucial for upgrading your weapons via the ore tree. It’s advisable to engage with each Mining Outcrop multiple times, as they typically yield three to four materials during each interaction. Notably, these outcrops regenerate every fifteen real-world minutes, allowing players to farm specific hotspots effectively. Look for blue rock icons that feature a question mark to identify Mining Outcrops easily.
Each Mining Outcrop may contain one Lightcrystal, along with varying quantities of Machalite and Dragonite.

Optimal Farming Spot for Lightcrystals in Wyveria

While Wyveria may not boast a plethora of Mining Outcrops compared to locations like Oilwell Basin, the demand for Lightcrystals is relatively low. The prime location for harvesting Lightcrystals is Area 5, conveniently situated near the base camp. Although this area contains only three Mining Outcrops, players can expedite their resource gathering by placing waypoints on these outcrops while mounted on a Seikret, allowing your bird companion to navigate there automatically.
While this method may not rival the efficiency of farming other minerals, it allows players to multitask—gathering additional resources or Slinger ammunition as your Seikret handles transportation.
