With the launch of Monster Hunter Wilds, players have a wealth of new experiences to explore. I aim to unpack the nuances of the newly introduced Arena Quests, including what you can expect in terms of challenges and the accompanying rewards.
The recently released Free Title Update 1 brings Arena Quests, designed for Hunters seeking thrilling experiences. These quests operate in a time-trial format, compelling Hunters to adapt to unfamiliar weapons and gear while facing various formidable monsters.
While there currently aren’t a plethora of quests available, Capcom has confirmed that many more are on the horizon. My goal is to equip you with the essential information needed to thrive in these quests, ensuring you’re not navigating blindly.
Where to Locate Arena Quests

Understanding Arena Quests

Arena Quests come with several unique mechanics that you must understand to succeed. These limitations include squad size restrictions, which currently allow a maximum of two players.
Once you select your quest, a screen will present you with three gear sets to choose from. Each set includes two weapons and armor, along with basic supplies. You have a strict time limit of just 300 seconds to make your selection. This necessitates quick decision-making and effective communication with your team to strategize for tackling the upcoming challenge.
Rewards from Arena Quests

Now for the exciting part—loot! Completing these hunts generally yields a variety of valuable items, but one standout feature are the Coins.
These Coins serve a purpose: they can be used to craft gear. Though the current rewards may not be astounding, it’s important to remember that this is just the start.
Since these quests are time trials, they also provide an opportunity to showcase your skills. Players can compare scores on various Leaderboards within the game, providing a way to determine your prowess against fellow Hunters.
It’s crucial to note that scores are specific to each gear set.If you choose the Greatsword and Hunting Horn combination, your score reflects only that setup, allowing for detailed comparisons based on your equipment.
Please be aware that monster parts cannot be obtained from these Arena Quests. Any broken parts or wounds will only yield healing items, which you may find useful during your hunts.
Introducing Challenge Quests

Similar to Arena Quests, Challenge Quests are also focused on speed and efficiency. Two distinct types exist: the standard Challenge Quests and Free Challenge Quests.
Standard Challenge Quests
These quests operate as a variation of Arena Quests but are available for a limited time. Like Arena Quests, you are restricted to two players and must select from provided gear options.
Since these are time-sensitive events, I recommend participating to earn Coins that may prove useful for crafting future gear or obtaining certain items. For now, the primary rewards are focused on armor.
Free Challenge Quests
As the name suggests, Free Challenge Quests offer more flexibility during your hunts. Unlike standard challenges, they do not impose restrictions on the number of Hunters or specific equipment, allowing you to tailor your build for the encounter ahead.
Although there are no Free Challenge Quests available yet, it’s likely that the rewards will be consistent with those in previous challenges.
Rewards for Challenge Quests

The rewards for Challenge Quests are expected to mirror those of Arena Quests, so it’s wise to check back frequently for new quests, as they may feature valuable ingredients or Armor Spheres that you need, providing a low-effort way to gather resources.
Both types of Challenge Quests sport their own Leaderboards, fostering friendly competition as you strive to outperform others in your community. Upon participating, you will earn a Pendant, which you can wear to showcase your achievements to other Hunters.
Exploring the Leaderboards

If the main Leaderboards feel overwhelming, you’re in luck! There are sections dedicated to comparing performances among your friends.
Achieving a top 10, 000 rank will earn you an exclusive Pendant to highlight your skill level. However, it’s worth noting that some players have reportedly achieved absurdly fast monster kills, prompting concerns over cheating. Hopefully, Capcom addresses these issues promptly.
For the time being, focus on improving your own records, or enjoy the camaraderie of hunting with your friends.
