Momoland Unveils Comeback Plans After Two-Year Hiatus, Daisy Excluded from Reunion

Momoland Announces Exciting Reunion After Two-Year Hiatus

Momoland, the celebrated K-pop girl group, is making a triumphant return following a two-year break from their activities. This exciting development signals a new era for the group, as confirmed by Inyeon Entertainment on Thursday.

New Contracts and Fresh Beginnings

Six members—Hyebin, Jane, Nayun, JooE, Ahin, and Nancy—have signed exclusive contracts to resume group activities. This marks a significant milestone for Momoland, which had disbanded in February 2023 after their contracts with MLD Entertainment expired.

Notable Absence: Daisy

While the reunion is highly anticipated, one striking absence is that of Daisy, a former member who exited the group in 2020 under contentious circumstances. Daisy publicly disclosed during a TikTok live session that her departure was not by choice, but rather a termination initiated by MLD Entertainment. She successfully contested the agency in court over unpaid wages, highlighting the challenges she faced.

Fans were not surprised to learn of her exclusion from the group’s reunion. Since her departure, Daisy has remained largely distanced from the K-pop scene and has had limited interaction with the other members, though she continues to engage with her audience on TikTok.

The Rise of Momoland

Formed in 2016 via the reality series “Finding Momoland, ”the group quickly ascended to fame with their original lineup of seven members, including Hyebin, Yeonwoo, Jane, Nayun, JooE, Ahin, and Nancy. In 2017, they added two additional members, Daisy and Taeha, solidifying their roster.

Their breakout single, “Bboom Bboom, ”released in 2018, propelled them to international stardom and won them the World K-Pop Rookie award at the Gaon Chart Music Awards. Following this success, tracks like “BAAM”and “Thumbs Up”garnered further acclaim, contributing to their impressive record of 23 awards from 64 nominations.

Challenges and Transition

Despite their success, internal issues surfaced as Taeha and Yeonwoo departed the group in 2019 amid allegations concerning manipulation throughout the “Finding Momoland”process. Compounded by the mismanagement of MLD Entertainment, which included inconsistent promotional activities and long hiatuses, the remaining members opted not to renew their contracts in 2023.

Looking Ahead

As Momoland embarks on this new chapter, their dedicated fanbase eagerly anticipates the group’s return to the stage and the potential of new music. While the absence of Daisy raises questions, the focus on the remaining members fosters an optimistic outlook for their upcoming endeavors.
