A persistent rumor circulating on social media suggests that superstar Beyoncé has allegedly kidnapped fellow pop artist Sia, keeping her hidden away and pressuring her to create new music. Although these claims began in Brazil some time ago, they have recently resurfaced, gaining traction among online communities.
Moreover, the hashtag #SaveSia is now trending on X, where thousands of users are analyzing Sia’s tweets for potential hidden messages that might indicate she is seeking help. Some users have even reached out to the FBI, urging them to intervene.
The origins of this bizarre narrative remain unclear. A Buzzfeed article from July 2016 notes that the rumors may have started following Sia’s 2015 interview with Rolling Stone in which she described her collaboration with Beyoncé as a “writing camp.”
On October 1, X user @crulsmmr shared a screenshot of a post making similar allegations, provoking a variety of reactions from the online community. Some dismissed the post as false, suggesting that Americans should avoid drug use, while others rushed to demand action to rescue Sia.
“Some Americans should stop what they are smoking,” commented one user.
Meanwhile, various users expressed skepticism about the allegations.
“This level of dissection not even the FBI can reach,” joked one user.
“Beyoncé is a good person, don’t gaslight me,” wrote a fan.
“I’m not believing anything until I see solid evidence,” stated another user.
Conversely, some Twitter users expressed belief in the claims and voiced sympathy for Sia.
“Maybe we should have listened more closely,” suggested one user.
“The fear in her voice…” wrote another.
“She was just trying to survive,”added another.
“It’s okay mama…she’ll be behind bars soon,” another user confidently proclaimed.
The conspiracy theory alleging that Beyoncé kidnapped Sia spreads rapidly
According to this conspiracy theory, Beyoncé has allegedly abducted Sia and is holding her captive in a “cativeiro,”a Brazilian term referring to a concealed place where kidnapping victims are kept, such as a bunker or secret chamber.
Enthusiasts of this theory are utilizing the #SaveSia hashtag and meticulously examining Sia’s tweets for any hidden messages that could suggest she is seeking help. Some even speculate that Sia dons wigs as a cover for alleged bruises inflicted by Beyoncé.
The aforementioned Buzzfeed article from July 2016, discussing Sia’s 2015 Rolling Stone interview, may have ignited this bizarre narrative when Sia described her working relationship with Beyoncé.
In that same interview, Sia also commented on Beyoncé’s unique creative process, likening her to Frankenstein regarding song creation. This implies that she pieces together components from various songwriters to mold her final product.
“She visits each room and contributes, telling us what she feels about the songs—lyrically, melodically, anything. She’s very Frankenstein-like when it comes to music. She’ll say, ‘I like that verse. I want to mix this pre-chorus with that,’” Sia explained.
Sia also revealed her excitement about reclaiming some of her 25 songs that Beyoncé had previously held onto.
Fans are scrutinizing the so-called “evidence”cited in support of the claims about Sia, which include edited images of Sia with Beyoncé’s likeness superimposed over her eyes and the tweet “Hope Everyone Likes Pancakes/H.E.L.P.”
Despite the extensive discussion around these bizarre kidnapping allegations, neither Beyoncé nor Sia has publicly responded to the claims.
