Minecraft’s Major Graphics Update is Now Live

Exciting News for Minecraft Enthusiasts: New Update Released

Today marks a significant milestone for collectors and builders in the Minecraft community. Mojang has officially launched the eagerly awaited Chase the Skies update, alongside a remarkable graphical enhancement known as the Vibrant Visuals overhaul. While the Chase the Skies update is accessible across all supported platforms, Vibrant Visuals is currently exclusive to the Bedrock Edition, with plans to roll it out for Java Edition in the near future.

A Long-Awaited Visual Enhancement

Mojang initially initiated plans for a graphical revamp eight years ago through the Super-Duper Graphics project; however, that initiative was ultimately shelved due to performance concerns and various challenges. With renewed determination, Mojang has successfully launched a robust graphics update that brings a wealth of visual improvements to the game.

Enhanced Graphics Features

The graphical refresh in Minecraft includes a plethora of enhancements such as:

  • Directional lighting
  • Volumetric fog
  • Advanced shadows
  • Realistic reflections
  • Godrays

These enhancements previously necessitated the use of Minecraft RTX or external shaders. Now, even players with mid-range systems can enjoy these improved visuals without the need for specialized hardware. The update is compatible with a broad range of devices, which include:

  • Android devices featuring Adreno 640, Mali-G68, Mali-G77, Xclipse 530, or higher.
  • iPhones and iPads powered by A12, M1, or newer chipsets.
  • Any PC supporting DirectX 12.
  • PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles.
  • Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles.

To enable the Vibrant Visuals feature, simply adjust the display settings within the game. Although this update is designed for compatibility with numerous devices, users may experience some performance degradation. Fortunately, players can optimize their gaming experience by customizing various aspects of the visual settings. It’s also important to note that the splitscreen multiplayer mode does not currently support the Vibrant Visuals feature, nor do worlds and texture packs.

What’s New in the Chase the Skies Update

The Chase the Skies update enriches the gameplay by introducing:

  • Joyful ghasts
  • New music disks
  • A locator bar for player navigation
  • Environmental fog effects in the overworld
  • Fresh background music

Additionally, players can look forward to various gameplay adjustments, such as the capability to craft saddles and leads, as well as horse taming using carrots.
