Minecraft to Say Goodbye to Part of Its Player Community in 2025

Initially conceived as a modest project aimed at creating something enjoyable and innovative, Minecraft has dramatically evolved over the years into an international sensation, boasting millions of players worldwide. The game is accessible on a variety of platforms, including PC, Mac, PlayStation, Xbox, and mobile devices. However, bad news looms for a segment of the game’s community, as Mojang Studios has revealed plans to discontinue part of its player support in 2025, potentially disappointing many enthusiasts.

In a recent update, Mojang Studios confirmed that they would cease support for Minecraft VR starting March 2025. Below are the details surrounding this unfortunate decision regarding VR functionality in the popular game.

Experiencing Minecraft in virtual reality is truly unique, allowing players to engage with the game’s elements in a more intimate way, making combat with hostile mobs even more intense. Although the VR edition launched in 2016 alongside advancements in VR technology, Mojang Studios has opted to halt support at this juncture.

Even though Minecraft is playable on a multitude of popular platforms, including PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, Windows Mixed Reality, and Meta Quest, Mojang’s decision to withdraw support for these systems has come without a clear explanation.

This change does not prevent VR users from continuing to enjoy Minecraft; they will still have the option to play on other devices like consoles, PCs, and smartphones.

It’s important to note that ending support does not imply that players will lose access to the game after March 2025. Players can retain their saved worlds. However, future updates introducing new features will not be rolled out on the VR version. Players will still have access to all previously purchased in-game items related to this version.
