Minecraft Snapshot 24w44a Patch Notes
With Snapshot 24w44a, the Minecraft Winter Drop transitions from the experimental tab, making it accessible in worlds created or played in this latest version.
New Features in Minecraft Snapshot 24w44a
Introduction of Eyeblossoms
Eyeblossoms are an innovative flower found in the Pale Garden biome, characterized by:
- Two forms: Closed and Open Eyeblossom
- Flower variants change based on the time of day
- Open Eyeblossoms surface at night
- Closed Eyeblossoms appear during the day
- In dimensions without a day/night cycle, they will retain their state
- During transitions, a particle effect is emitted
- When planted, Eyeblossoms interact with each other for synchronized blooming
- Open Eyeblossoms exhibit glowing eyes during nighttime
- Can be attained by bonemealing grass in the Pale Garden
- Bees suffer poisoning upon contact with Eyeblossoms
- While bees are attracted to Eyeblossoms, player interaction leads to poisoning instead of their usual breeding behavior
- Suspicious Stew created with Eyeblossoms yields Blindness or Nausea effects based on the variant
- Closed and Open Eyeblossoms can be crafted into Gray and Orange Dye respectively
- Open Eyeblossoms may be available through trades with the Wandering Trader
New Resin Items and Blocks
- Inflicting damage on a Creaking will produce 2 to 3 Resin Clumps from its Creaking Heart
- Resin Clumps can be found on the sides of Pale Oak Logs, closely linked to the Creaking Heart
- The Creaking Heart has a 5-second cooldown before it can produce more Resin Clumps after being attacked
- Resin Clumps serve as a material for enhancing armor trims
- Block of Resin allows for the storage of Resin Clumps
- Smelting Resin Clumps results in Resin Brick items
- Resin Brick items can be utilized to craft various Resin structures such as Resin Bricks, Slabs, Stairs, and Walls, along with Chiseled Resin Bricks
- Both Resin Clumps and Blocks can be instantly mined without tools
- A pickaxe is needed for the Resin Brick family of blocks
- Wandering Traders are known to sell Resin Clumps
- Resin Clumps can also be discovered in chests of Woodland Mansions
Changes in Minecraft Snapshot 24w44a
- The panorama has undergone an update
- Using a sword is no longer effective for breaking Moss Carpet; the Hoe remains the appropriate tool
- Player interactions with Wither Roses now inflict Withering on bees
Tool Requirements for Drops
Developer’s Note: Blocks that drop upon being broken from underneath will now yield drops regardless of the tool used. Previously, breaking a block directly could result in destruction even when it could have been collected with alternate tools!
- Blocks needing support that will now drop when destroyed with any tool include: Bell, Lantern, Soul Lantern, all Copper Doors, Iron Door, Heavy Lightweight Pressure Plates, Light Weighted Pressure Plates, Polished Blackstone Pressure Plates, and Stone Pressure Plates
- The Brewing Stand will also drop when mined with any tool
- When broken using an incorrect tool, the Ender Chest will yield Obsidian instead of nothing
Pale Garden Updates
- The Pale Garden biome has no music; should a player enter the biome while music is playing, the existing music will fade out
Creaking Heart Modifications
- Creaking Hearts can be obtained using a Silk Touch enchanted tool
- Craftable with a Resin Block and Pale Oak Logs
- Naturally found Creaking Hearts yield 20-24 experience upon breaking, with or without Silk Touch
- Breaking a Creaking Heart will drop 1-3 Resin Clumps, and Fortune enchantment applies
Pale Oak Tree Changes
- Pale Oak Leaves can produce leaf particles when exposed from the underside
- Player-cultivated Pale Oaks grow devoid of any decorations
- Wild Pale Oak trees are adorned with Pale Hanging Moss, Pale Moss patches beneath them, and may contain Creaking Heart blocks
- Pale Oak Saplings are sold by Wandering Traders
Pale Moss Block Availability
- Pale Moss Blocks can be purchased from Wandering Traders
Pale Hanging Moss Characteristics
- Pale Hanging Moss can be harvested instantly when mined
- It requires shears or Silk Touch tools for collection
- Pale Hanging Moss is also available from Wandering Traders
Creaking Mob Behavior
- Creaking has 3 points (1.5 hearts) of melee damage
- Illagers exhibit fear of Creakings and will flee when they come near
Additional changes for naturally occurring Creaking include:
- Creaking will only respond to damage caused by mobs or projectiles by swaying
- Creaking ignores damage from Cactus, Sweet Berry Bushes, and Powder Snow, traversing over these unharmed
- Creaking has a twitching animation
- Creaking is resistant to fire
- The Creaking Heart will decide to remove or replace the connected Creaking when:
- Daytime occurs
- The Creaking moves too far from the associated Creaking Heart
- A player collides with the Creaking for several seconds
