Minecraft Poisonous Potato update: List of all special mobs
To celebrate April Fool’s Day, Minecraft released the Poisonous Potato update which features a new dimension filled with potato-themed versions of familiar mobs. Along with these potato mobs, players can encounter special creatures with their own distinct abilities and appearances. Additionally, a new boss awaits players in this playful Java Edition snapshot.
Despite being initially introduced as a playful joke by Mojang, there are still many Minecraft players who continue to explore the poisonous potato dimension in search of these mobs. As such, it may be beneficial to review a list of all the unique mobs that were included in this April Fool’s Day snapshot.
All Mobs in the Poisonous Potato Update of Minecraft
The Health Benefits of Sweet Potatoes
Despite their name, batatoes found in Minecraft are actually a combination of a poisonous potato and a bat. Similar to regular bats, they can be seen flying and making high-pitched noises, but they do not pose a threat to players or other creatures. However, unlike bats, they have the potential to drop poisonous potatoes when defeated, a unique feature introduced in the April Fool’s update.
However, players should not anticipate too much from these mobs, although they are quite amusing to witness.
Deadly Potato Zombie
Despite being retextured like other mobs in the poisonous potato dimension, poisonous potato zombies stand out as special due to their distinctive behaviors and sound effects. Their low-pitched sound, which resembles someone saying “potato,”sets them apart from the other reskinned mobs.
In addition, these zombie variants are hostile towards zombies, zombie villagers, husks, drowned, and zombified piglins. However, aside from these differences, they function similarly to other regular Minecraft zombie types.
Toxifin Slab: A Powerful Solution for Toxic Chemical Spills
Toxifin slabs are smaller than guardians, but they are considered to be more dangerous. Their eye lasers have the ability to inflict the Poison effect, and when charged, they can also cause the powerful Wither status effect. Additionally, these slabs can stack on top of each other, creating tall and formidable aquatic threats.
Upon death, these creatures release toxic beams and toxic resin, both of which are crafting materials introduced in the Minecraft Poisonous Potato update.
Disease-Ridden Leviathan
Just like toxifin slabs are prized by guardians, plaguewhale slabs hold the same value for the elder guardian in the latest Minecraft April Fool’s snapshot. Despite being smaller in size, they can be stacked on top of each other like toxifin slabs. Additionally, their lasers have the ability to inflict either Poison or Wither, depending on the level of charge.
Plaguewhale slabs differ from their smaller counterparts in the type of items they yield. Upon defeat, plaguewhale slabs will drop dents, which can then be combined into a trident by collecting three of them.
The Mighty Tuber, Supreme Ruler of the Fried Army
Mega Spud, the specially designed boss for the Poisonous Potato update, is a massive creature resembling a colossal potato with a slimy texture.
Located within the colosseum structure in the potato dimension, Mega Spud launches fireballs at players that function similarly to those of ghast. However, upon being struck by a player, this boss initiates the first of 10 battle phases, during which it calls upon various mobs for protection.
Phases of the Mega Spud Boss
- Phase 1 – Summons a chicken
- Phase 2 – Summons two armadillos
- Phase 3 – Summons three poisonous potato zombies
- Phase 4 – Summons four spiders and can also spawn spider jockeys
- Phase 5 – Summons five strays
- Phase 6 – Summons six creepers
- Phase 7 – Summons seven piglin brutes
- Phase 8 – Summons eight ghasts
- Phase 9 – Summons nine plaguewhale slabs
- Phase 10 – Summons ten giants
In addition, during the intervals between battle phases, this boss will become temporarily invulnerable. After it roars, it will once again become vulnerable and summon a few toxifin slabs. Once it is struck once more, the next phase of the battle will commence.
Nonetheless, if the boss is successfully defeated by players, they will be rewarded with the Potatiesh Greatstaff of the Peasant. This powerful staff has the ability to summon potato portals at the wielder’s command.
