
Enhanced Functionality for Xbox Controllers on Windows 11
Microsoft is introducing an innovative feature for PC gamers who utilize Xbox controllers. Currently, pressing the Xbox button activates the Game Bar, while a long press powers down the controller. However, with the recent preview builds available in the Dev and Beta Channels, Microsoft is expanding the functionality of this button.
New Feature: Launch Task View
If you are using a PC with Windows 11 version 25H2 (build 26220.6682) or version 24H2 (build 26120.6682), you can now access Task View by long-pressing the Xbox button. This change allows users to quickly view all open applications, making multitasking more efficient.
Multiple Functions of the Xbox Button
With this update, the Xbox button offers three distinct functionalities:
- Short Press: Opens the Game Bar
- Long Press: Launches Task View
- Press and Hold: Powers off the controller
Impact on Handheld Devices
This new capability is also expected to be beneficial for handheld devices, such as the upcoming ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X. It streamlines the user experience significantly, allowing for quicker navigation between applications.

Open Device Manager by searching for it via the search box on your taskbar. Once Device Manager is open, click on “View” and then “Devices by Driver”.Find the driver named ”

)” where the “XXX” will be a specific number on your PC. Right-click on that driver and click “Uninstall”.
