Microsoft Windows 11 25H2 Update Released to Users Amid Four Launch Issues

Microsoft has officially rolled out the Windows 11 25H2 update to users. While the update has arrived, it comes with four notable issues that might not hinder the average user’s experience significantly.

Windows 11 25H2 Is Released, But Features Are Limited Compared to 24H2

The Windows 11 25H2 update does not represent a monumental shift from the previous 24H2 version. Its initial rollout includes some minor enhancements, but users can expect a few exciting new features in future updates. Notably, a redesigned Start Menu with diverse application views and an advanced tool for seamless cross-device integration are on the horizon. However, according to a report from Windows Latest, the introduction of 25H2 has been accompanied by several known issues, which Microsoft is aware of. Fortunately, these problems are not severe enough to deter most users from upgrading to this latest version.

Many of these problems have persisted from the previous 24H2 version, as the underlying code is shared between these updates. One prominent issue affects users’ ability to access DRM-protected content, such as certain movies and videos. Microsoft has indicated that this problem, relating to the ‘Enhanced Video Renderer’, is currently unresolved but a patch is anticipated to be released by October 2025.

Another issue highlighted in the report pertains to the Windows Update Standalone Installer (WUSA), which is running into problems installing.msu files. This particular glitch is more frequently observed in enterprise environments. Additionally, the Media Creation Tool is reportedly non-functional on ARM64 platforms—when users attempt to run the tool, an error message appears. Microsoft clarifies that while the Media Creation Tool does not support installation media creation for ARM64 PCs, it still operates correctly for x86 builds.

For those keen on installing the new update on their PCs, you can do so by enabling the option “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available”in the Windows Update section. Alternatively, you may download it through the enablement package update files.
