Microsoft Windows 11 25H2 Update Launch Day Troubles: Users Face Issues After Rollout

The rollout of Microsoft’s Windows 11 25H2 update has begun, but it arrives with a few noteworthy issues that could be of interest, albeit not alarming, to the average user.

Windows 11 25H2 Released with Limited Enhancements and Known Issues

The 25H2 update is not regarded as a groundbreaking release. Instead, it offers only moderate enhancements compared to its predecessor, the 24H2 version. Nevertheless, Microsoft plans to introduce additional features in the future, including a redesigned Start Menu and advanced cross-device integration capabilities. According to a report from Windows Latest, this update has surfaced with four known issues that Microsoft is monitoring, but these concerns are not seen as major deterrents for users contemplating the upgrade.

It’s noteworthy that several of these issues have been carried over from the 24H2 update, as both versions share the same foundational code. Consequently, any problems observed in 25H2 can often be traced back to its predecessor. One prominent issue involves a failure to play DRM-protected content, which continues to be problematic in 25H2, restricting users from accessing movies and videos that possess digital rights management protections. Microsoft has indicated that this issue relates to the ‘Enhanced Video Renderer’ and anticipates a resolution by October 2025.

Another identified problem pertains to the Microsoft Windows Update Standalone Installer (WUSA), which currently struggles to install.msu files. This particular issue is more frequently reported in enterprise settings. Additionally, users have noted that the Media Creation Tool is non-functional on ARM64 platforms, presenting an error when attempted. Microsoft clarified that the tool does not support installation media creation for ARM64 PCs, although it remains fully operational for x86 builds.

As for the most prominent issues associated with the Windows 11 25H2 update, if you’re eager to experience the changes on your PC, you can upgrade by enabling the ‘Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available’ option in your Windows update settings or by downloading the enablement package update files directly.
