Latest on Windows 11 and 10

This segment covers the latest happenings regarding Microsoft’s flagship operating systems, including new features, bug fixes, and discussions within the tech community.

Windows 10 users may have encountered error code 0x80070643, which indicates “ERROR_INSTALL_FAILURE”during updates. Microsoft is aware of this issue and assures users that ignoring this error will resolve the situation. If only all issues were this straightforward to fix!

Another recent resolution came in the form of a patch addressing Windows 11’s blue screen of death, marked by the error code 0x18B “SECURE_KERNEL_ERROR.”Thanks to Microsoft’s Known Issue Rollback mechanism, users will automatically benefit from this fix without needing to take any action themselves.

The road hasn’t been entirely smooth, however. Microsoft admitted to an issue where Windows 11 was mistakenly offered to Intune-configured devices that were intended to remain on Windows 10. Those users will sadly need to revert back to Windows 10 manually. Microsoft labeled this as stemming from a “latent code issue.”

Additionally, Windows Hello is experiencing temporary challenges. According to a support document, face sign-in or PIN for Windows Hello may fail after performing a reset with files intact. Luckily, users can easily remedy this by reconfiguring Windows Hello.

In development news, Windows 11 version 23H2 will see the deprecation of VBS enclaves, although these will still be supported in Windows 11 version 24H2 and future releases. Additionally, updates for Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) have been rolled out for Windows 10.
